The Liberal Party is becoming even more radically left-wing than ever, less moderate, less middle-of-the-road, gaining yet one more high-profile extremist while losing yet another moderate. Looking ever-more like the NDP/Greens.

PM Harper wants to be able to govern the country, but if it becomes impossible due to the intransigence and ultra-partisan extremism of the Far-Left Opposition, particularly the ironically-named Liberals, then there might as well have to be an election to try to change the political landscape so as to make Parliament work, therefore enabling the duly-elected government to do its job. This will be a main theme of an election campaign.
