The Conservatives' Subtle But Big Conservative Reforms

Story here. h/t: NationalNewswatch.com

So clever. The Opposition and the MSM didn't notice. That's because they're too myopic as well as dumb.

The Harper Conservatives have, indeed, despite the complaints of some conservatives who claim otherwise, done some very significantly conservative things whose effects will be felt for a long, long time to come, regardless of who may be in power in the future.

Basically, what they've done is effectively tied the hands of the federal government fiscally so that it can't have any big, multi-billiondollar spending sprees anymore, thanks to significant, broad-based tax cuts and to transferring billions of dollars in revenues to the provinces.

From now on, spending initiatives and increases will have to be conservative and saleable and cannot cause higher taxes or a return to deficit.

Poor Liberals. If they survive in the long run and miraclously return to the helm, they'll find themselves unable to blow our money on big, stupid bullshit stuff like the mysterious foundations and ADSCAM, not to mention Kyoto and other multibilliondollar sinkholes.
