Needless to say, I'm on Michael Coren's side against the "pro-choice" Brownshirts and SSers of the University of Calgary and those who agree with that institution's unpunished, sanctioned by the "Progressive" Left, choice to discriminate, to censor, to forbid equality in freedom of expression.
And I'd like to say that, if this is the rule, rather than the exception, for how Canadian universities are allowed to treat students, ie. with this kind of discrimination and Brownshirting, police-state behavior, I will never set foot on any university campus again and will condemn universities as places of indoctrination in Hard-Left fascist ideology rather than places of learning.
If you believe in freedom, democracy, the rule of law, equality and human rights, don't go to a university. Go to a trade school and keep your mind sovereign. The little extra income you might get from a degree at a university isn't worth the risk of losing your mind to the Hard-Left fascist ideology and ending up as a politically-correct yes-man or -woman for the rest of your life, never thinking for yourself, always speaking only as permitted by the state. Such is, after all, a fate less desirable than even death itself. Such is the case in the Islamic World and the Axis of Evil. What, do those entities control the universities already? Remember, the German universities were all too eager and quick to submit wholly to Hitler's Nazi doctrine...
Further thoughts:
The University of Calgary claims, in a lawyer's letter, that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms doesn't apply to it, being a non-governmental entity. Therefore they can discriminate howsoever they see fit against whomever they dislike. At least against those inferior, subhuman pro-lifers, as the University's evil, hateful Liberal Fascist administrators must think of them... sort of how "Dr". Josef Mengele thought of Jews, the disabled, etc... Oh, by the way, big-abortion business "Planned Parenthood" founder Margaret Sanger was a Nazi, an anti-Semite, a racist... as well as someone who passionately hated babies, unborn human beings, and deemed them, according to her hateful, evil, selfish convenience imperatives, as non-human and undeserving of life, therefore deserving of death, however imposed... Google it, doubting Thomases, and think about that...
I must ask: Is this true, the claim of the U of C that the Charter doesn't apply to them? I'm afraid it might be. Why?
Where's the outrage? The Left and the Big Media, as predicted, didn't make a stink over this declaration. Either it's because they don't believe that the Charter should protect pro-life folks who oppose the butcherous tearing-apart-piece-by-piece, torture-to-death of live, fully-feeling-pain, innocent unborn human beings so seen by Leftists as a wonderful, "progressive" thing, or it's because they KNOW that the Charter doesn't apply in the private-sector realm, that it only applies to how the state treats people.
In the first scenario, the Left is hypocritical, intolerant, bigoted, doublethinking, double-standard-practicing, hateful.
In the second scenario, well, now that the truth has inadvertently been spilled like beans, the beans are outside the can. So remember, for example, the Delwin Vreind case? Invalid, and his firing from the Christian college for being an open, flamboyant homosexual, was ok in the first place! Never should any court have ever paid him any attention, let alone agreed to hear the case! And remember the Christian-owned printshop who refused to print homosexual literature? The owner was within his rights after all! Just like, as claimed, the University of Calgary is within its rights to treat the pro-life girls so badly, calling in the police to jackboot them...
But how come no one ignorant about the real world and the truth as being reported online on non-Big-Media sources, knows? Why is this newly-apparent "truth" being covered up? Oh, of course, the GLBTs and Muslims, as well as feminazi unions and so on and so forth, don't want people to know that their claims that the Charter grants them all sorts of stuff is a Big Lie after all, and that the Courts have been participating in this Big Lie, as criminal organizations illegally, unconstitutionally playing lawmaker!
What's the truth? There actually seems to be an emerging consensus that, in fact, the Charter doesn't apply to the private sector, only to the government sector. It's going to be fascinating to observe what, if anything, stems from the University of Calgary's unchallenged-by-the-Left, unchallenged-by-the-Liberals/NDP/Bloc/Greens, unchallenged by the GLBTs, the Muslims, the Unions, etc., etc... assertion that the Charter can't compel them in their treatment of anyone within their borders, that they're not required to treat all groups equally at all.
You know, maybe some right-wing folks should start a university, declaring that they're immune to the Charter, and that it'll be a university that doesn't allow homosexuals and Muslims to enrol... well, if the University of Calgary is right, then let those right-wingers do whatever they want. On the other hand, if the homosexuals, Muslims and the Left in general raise a stink, then remind them that they didn't raise a stink when the U of C declared that they can treat pro-life people as if they have no rights, no equality, because the Charter's reach ends at the University's campus boundaries.

What is the truth? I'm not sure anymore. It's either independent of what people say and think, ie. dependent only on what's actually written in constitutions, bills of rights and laws, or wholly subject to the momentary, situationally-dependent claims of the Left.
