Paul Martin Liberals Give Our Tax Dollars to Christianophobic Bigots and Won't Stop

Indeed, that's a strong statement. But it's true. That's why I'm posting this information. The Paul Martin Liberals are giving my and your money to hatefully intolerant left-wing extremists yet again and unapologetically so.

The LifeSite reports that Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott discovered, via the Access to Information Act, that the ruling Paul Martin Liberals, via Status of Women Canada, last year granted $27,400 to the BC Pro-Choice Action network (pro-CAN).

Mr. Vellacott sent a letter to Liza Frulla, Liberal Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women, which states, in part:
Pro-CAN spokesperson Joyce Arthur uses derogatory labels to describe individuals who are pro-life, saying their opposition to abortion, "comes primarily from religious justifications for oppressing women" and a need to "maximize (the Catholic Church's) membership levels to maintain their worldly influence and wealth." Pro-CAN accuses pro-life Christians of being "religious fanatics" who do "little or nothing for children once they are born." She says pro-life Christians are "anti-woman and anti-child," have views which are "uninformed, sexist, cruel," and lack the ability to empathize which "breeds intolerance, hate crimes, and war." Ms. Arthur says that the pro-lifer's attitude towards women is like "the slaveholder's attitude to blacks, and the Nazi's attitude to Jews."

Oh, dear. What an example of ultra far left-wing Christianophobia.

Mr. Vellacott in the letter called for prompt action to curtail all funding to the group and an apology to all Christians:
The government should be taking no part in spreading this sort of bigotry. Please ensure that any current funding to Pro-CAN ceases immediately and that no future taxpayer money be given to this group. And please have your department issue a public apology to all Christians and pro-life Canadians because of your department's financial support of this hate mongering organization.

The report describes Ms. Frulla's response:
In a curt reply dated October 18, Minister Frulla says, "I appreciate being made aware of your concerns." The Minister acknowledges that pro-CAN and the other pro-abortion activist groups mentioned in the letter by Vellacott, "did indeed receive funding under the women's Program of Status of Women Canada."

Frulla suggested she was well aware of the activities of pro-CAN, but found no objection to funding the anti-Christian group with public monies. "Each application is assessed according to a stringent set of objectives and criteria . . . Please be assured that the initiatives cited in your letter, which did indeed receive funding, met all of the above-mentioned objectives and eligibility criteria."

Amazing. The Minister is aware of the hate propaganda of the group, yet deems them fit, according to the Liberals' "stringent set of objectives and criteria" to receive my and your hard-earned and easily taken money. The "objectives and criteria" are what? To be viciously intolerant of Christians? Is that what the Liberal Party of Paul Martin believes to be an example of their pompously trumpeted "Canadian values"?

What if the group instead was opposed to same-sex marriage? We know the Liberals would've told them to go to hell rather than grant them our money. What if they said similarly bad things about Muslims? Then the Liberals would have them charged with criminally intolerant expression against a religious minority, probably.

Yet we see the fascistic double standards of the ultra far left being continued, encouraged and funded (with my and your money) by the ruling Paul Martin "Liberal" regime.

Tell me, is this what the Liberals believe to be an example of their often pompously, patronizingly trumpeted set of "Canadian values", which aren't written anywhere, by the way, and only are whatever the Liberal Party deems them to be whenever they see fit?

Is the Liberal Party of Paul Martin Christianophobic? They're giving our money to hatefully extreme Christianophobes, after all.

No wonder our taxes continue to be so high. Paul Martin and the so-called "Liberals" are always giving it away to the ultra far left!

Rabinovitch Falls off Chair: Captions, Please!

CBC President Robert Rabinovitch fell out of his chair the other day while pouring a glass of water.

How the hell does one fall off a chair onto the floor just pouring a glass of what may or may not be water? Perhaps some disgruntled CBC moonbat slipped the big kahuna of the Communist Brainwashing Commission a mickey? Perhaps the water was spiked? Maybe we should have a Gomery Inquiry into what happened?

This is too good an opportunity to pass up... come on, everyone! Think up a good, funny caption for the photo!

Paul Martin Liberals Give $2.9 Million of Our Money to Anti-Israel Coalition

From Canada Free Press:

The social justice missioned KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives has received $2.9-million from CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) during the past two years.

KAIROS, which has 25 years of experience in supporting human rights and
peace building in the Middle East, states on its literature that "Until a Palestinian state is realized, Israel is an occupying power in the Palestinian Territories and must respect international law as specified in the Fourth Geneva Convention."

Note the group's assertion, without basis given, that Israel is "occupying" the "Palestinian Territories". This is false, as, in fact, Israel won the territories in the war of 1967 in which it was attacked, unprovoked, by the former owners of the territories, Egypt (which owned the Gaza Strip, which was actually given to the Palestinian Authority recently) and Jordan (which owned the West Bank). Therefore, there has never been any occupation of these territories by Israel. In fact, they are actually occupied by the Palestinian Authority, which has never declared statehood over said territories, which makes the popular (politically correct, actually) belief that there's actually a real state called "Palestine" incorrect. There is no reason for KAIROS to issue such a declaration, other than prejudice against Israel, in my opinion. But then again, leftists are usually prejudiced against Israel, no doubt.

(...)

KAIROS public forums on Israel divestment are being hosted over a two-day period in Toronto-based United Churches.

Representatives expected to attend tonight’s free forum at Bloor Street United Church include the Canadian Arab Federation, Zatoun: Fair Trade Olive Oil from Palestine. Palestine House Educational & Cultural Centre, World Affairs Committee of Toronto Conference of the United Church of Canada and the Muslim Canadian Congress. among others.

KAIROS and friends are calling on companies and corporations to divest from Israel. According to an Internet declaration, KAIROS considers that "earning money through investment in companies whose products and services are used in such a way as to violate international law and human rights is equivalent to profiting from unlawful acts and from the oppression of others."

To KAIROS, "investment in such companies can be seen as condoning the harm of innocent civilians under occupation and the illegal Israeli settlement policies that lead to human rights violations."

"Investment in such companies enables the government of Israel to sustain the ongoing violation of human rights of innocent civilians and "continuing such investments, once the facts are brought to our attention, constitutes deliberate condoning of the evil practices," claims KAIROS.

Note the membership of the group: basically the leftist-oriented United Church and Arab/Muslim groups.

Note also the declaration that Israeli settlements are "illegal". Again, no basis given for this claim. "Human rights violations" are alleged. Also without proof. And to top it off, KAIROS slurs Israel as having "evil practices".
Oh, my. That's a whole bunch of terrible, baseless, bigoted propaganda. The group wishes to intimidate people and businesses to stop investing in Israel based on this? KAIROS disgusts me and should be ashamed of itself. Their stench is revolting.
Oh, and, did I mention that the ruling Paul Martin Liberals funneled $2.9 million of my and your tax dollars to these extremists via CIDA? This is an outrage. The Liberals are giving our money to far-left anti-Israeli activists. Through the CIDA, which is supposed to promote development, not divestment, with respect to other nations. The Liberal pigs' revolting stench gets worse and worse the more we learn how they waste our hard-earned tax dollars.
Be certain to read the whole article.

Is it Toronto or is it Iraq? Gun Violence Galore! What are the Liberals Doing?

We've all heard about the daily violence and slayings going on in Iraq for a long time now.

But now it's time to look more closely at Toronto. The mainstream media (MSM) hasn't been doing a very good job of bringing to our attention the extent of the endless gun violence in The Big Smoke of late.

See a chronological listing of the shootings in Toronto here for yourselves.

And then try to tell me that the multibillion dollar Liberal long gun registry has worked to reduce gun violence and homicides in Canada. With a straight face. If you can.

I would repeat the saying: "Guns don't kill people. People kill people."

Therefore, if the state cannot get rid of guns, particularly handguns used by street scumbags, by harassing law-abiding sport hunters, who only use long guns anyway, not handguns, it is necessary to do something about the people who perpetrate the gun violence. I would suggest life without parole, ever, for murder committed with a handgun. Plus, for possession of a concealed illegal firearm, twenty years in prison without possibility of parole.

I recommend Ottawa and the provinces use some of any proposed "infrastructure" cash to build new prisons. Boot-camp, no-bullshit prisons where inmates have to behave as civilized adults or suffer sanctions. It seems the state has been letting murderers out ridiculously early, like Karla Homolka, as perhaps Canada has run out of cells in which to house dangerous offenders. Scrap the gun registry and use the cash instead to warehouse murderers for life. Then I guarantee the violence will be drastically curtailed.

But will the left-wing extremist ruling Paul Martin Liberals do the right thing and crack down on this terrible, regularly-occuring gun violence by doing as I've prescribed above? Not a chance. They'll instead seek to win far-left votes away from the NDP and Bloc Quebecois by maintaining the status quo as they haven't a prayer of winning away votes from the Conservatives, as intelligent, ordinary conservative Canadians would rather eat dung than put up with the "Liberal" mob any longer.

I Wonder if Toronto Mayor David Miller has the balls to do what it takes? Will he do his job? Will he beef up law enforcement and give them new, more serious orders to take down the evildoers on the streets? What's more important to him, colorful but unnecessary parades or protecting the safety of innocent citizens from those who wish them harm? If he fails, he'll drive away business, residents and tourists. He'll lead Toronto into a depression if he tolerates the shootings.

Cdn Terrorists Go to Iraq to Fight America; Liberals Do Nothing

It has recently been disclosed by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) that Canadian terrorists have been and are planning to fight, along with other Jihadist "insurgents", the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq, which is there to aid the newly liberated and democratized Middle Eastern nation in its transition to a modern constitutional democracy.

Remember, these Jihadist "insurgents" have vowed to prevent the democratization of Iraq and wish to fully, radically, fundamentally Islamicize the nation as well as the entire Middle East. This would, if permitted, be a disaster for humanity and for the world. After all, Iraq's not-really-democratic neighbor, Iran, is itself brutally controlled by a bloody, fundamentalist Islamic group of individuals committed to international terrorism , including possibly of the nuclear kind, and is obviously not the sort of template that Paul Martin's Liberals would want to quietly encourage by their allowance of their own countryfolk to go forth and help these evildoers achieve their terrible goals.

Apparently, the ruling Paul Martin Liberals in Canada have no concrete idea of what, if anything, they will do with such individuals who have and would go and commit acts of terrorism anywhere in the world. Justice Minister Anne McLellan simply claims the government will deal with such terrorists to the "fullest extent" of the law. But...

As it currently stands, Canada has no law against going abroad and commiting acts of terrorism, believe it or not.

This is unacceptable as it demonstrates once again how the ruling Paul Martin Liberals do not care at all about appropriately dealing with Canadian citizens and others who would be terrorists or even those who have or are currently engaged in acts of terror abroad.

After all, the avowed Al Qaeda Khadr family is permitted to walk freely and openly among us by the ruling Paul Martin Liberals. Kind of like allowing pitbulls to roam the streets without a leash and without the presence of the owner.

What other terrorists have been and will be unleashed upon Canada and the world by the political-correctness-obsessed "Liberal" government of the famously-dithering billionaire Paul Martin?

Tax Relief, Not Transfers, for Have-Nots: Report for Ont. Gov't

The Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity, in a report prepared for Dalton McGuinty's Liberal government in Ontario, has declared that the answer to economic development in less-prosperous provinces in Canada is that the federal government should, instead of transfers, offer tax relief in order to stimulate private-sector investment, thus increasing productivity.

The report explains that currently, overtaxation-caused federal budgetary surpluses are not reinvested in ways that promote future prosperity, but rather are simply spent or redistributed for immediate spending by citizens, mostly in less-prosperous areas, like Atlantic Canada.

In other words, the Liberals under Paul Martin are blowing our tax dollars on the present to buy votes rather than using them to ensure a more prosperous future. Rather than, for example, using the year-end surplus to reduce the federal debt and provide real, broad-based, long-term stimulatory tax relief for the coming years, they have simply gone on year-end and pre-election spending sprees, practically eliminating the surpluses we would have had if they had behaved like the fiscal conservatives Paul Martin has always claimed they are, but obviously are not, certainly not anymore.

Not since Trudeau's most socialistic spending era has Canada seen such tax-and-spend insanity. Paul Martin has destroyed his once carefully-crafted image of a serious, careful-with-spending finance minister and lately has made of himself a hedonistic, wasteful election-buyer.

Not only that, he has committed the government and us, the taxpayers, to spend much of this extra money not just once, but each coming year, during which there will be no guarantee of cash being available for such ratcheted-up spending. How many times have they made announcements of "...over five years, ...over seven years..." and so on? It's impossible for ordinary folk to keep track. No wonder each year the budget skyrockets a la Trudeau's most flamboyant Seventies' spending spree. Paul Martin is, therefore, driving us full speed ahead towards deficit spending, and he obviously doesn't care!

This behavior will help no province, least of all the less prosperous ones. The report by the Insitute also explains that it simply takes some of the prosperity away from the haves and gives it as a handout for current consumption to have-nots.

This continues the endless cycle of socialistic redistribution and dependence that only serves to foster resentment and alienation in the West, particularly Alberta, and in Ontario, which also loses far more than it receives back from Ottawa. What this does is not only hold back the have-nots, preventing them from achieving their economic potential, but it also limits the haves' prosperity due to the redistribution of their income.

Therefore, the prosperity of Canada as a whole is less than it would be if the economy were freer, less-planned and -controlled via federal red tape and if there were a focus more on tax relief than on redistribution.

With this in mind, it's particularly disturbing that in addition to the Liberals' misguided, unworkable, socialistic economic policies, they continue to cavalierly waste our tax dollars throughout the federal government, its departments, agencies and institutions with reckless abandon and without accepting accountability. This is, after all, a party in power illegitimately, having ignored a Parliamentary non-confidence vote and a vote ordering the government to start an Air India Inquiry this past spring. We see no evidence of genuine measures being taken to end the corruption, wasteful spending or unethical conduct. How has this come to be?

How much longer can this astonishing corruption continue? The world over, regimes such as Paul Martin's Liberal one have fallen not only by devastating landslide defeats, but by way of revolution by the population. Does Paul Martin care how his government falls? Does he care at all?

The future of the federation is actually at stake, not just the economy. Does Paul Martin care? Let him prove it.

I'm not holding my breath for Paul Martin.

Of course, read the whole article!

Rules Broken, Money Wasted at DFO

Here we go yet again. Here's a report detailing some examples of rulebreaking, tax dollar-wasting and general mismanagement at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Is there anything that the Paul Martin Liberals haven't corrupted? Have they corrupted the entire government? How far and how deep does it go?

Where will the corruption turn up next?

Why wait? Vote them out of office in a landslide and the Conservatives will find out fast and stop the bleeding.

Layton Dictates Terms for Supporting Libs

NDP leader Jack Layton has declared that unless Paul Martin's ruling Liberals agrees to his terms, he'll have his party vote against the government in confidence votes in November. The terms are:

Demonstrate support for public health care and stop what
the NDP calls increased privatization.

Take action on climate change.

Get the U.S. to address the softwood lumber issue.

Protect workers' pensions.

Address ethical issues.

Tall order, in my opinion. Unless Mr. Layton accepts Mr. Martin's trademark empty rhetoric as promises to be kept rather than concrete legislation enabling the above demands, then Mr. Layton will have to make good on his threat and move to topple the Liberals.

I just don't see the Libs doing anything concrete with respect to the above points. If Mr. Layton is serious, then we'll be into an election this late fall. But if Mr. Martin again simply throws around billions of our hard-earned tax dollars yet again with mere promises of direction attached without any specific binding legislation, and Mr. Layton accepts this as sufficient, then, I wouldn't be surprised if he again supports the government. As for the US "addressing" the softwood lumber issue, all that is needed would be a promise from the Americans to "address" it and Mr. Layton will be happy. This is my prediction based on my past observations of Mr. Layton's lack of seriousness and resolve and his willingness to be bribed with oodles of tax dollars and worthless Liberal promises from Mr. Martin.

Our money is most likely about to be tossed into the wind with reckless abandon, as is Liberal tradition.

Update: Norman, OK, Bombing: More Myopic Media Denial

Well, here's a little bit of mainstream media (MSM) coverage of the apparent attempted-terror bombing in Norman, Oklahoma, that killed Joel Hinrichs III outside a football stadium full of over 80,000 people.

However,
this article, from the Wall Street Journal (online), in my opinion, merely continues the irresponsibility of the MSM in its treatment of this obviously serious incident which certainly warrants greater scrutiny than do many of the fluffy stories the MSM has preferred to follow instead.

The article discusses the treatment accorded the incident by us bloggers as well as the MSM treatment.

Be sure to read the article to get the whole picture.

Now let's scrutinize this example of MSM "information". The WSJ states the following:

To that unsettling set of facts, blogs and local Oklahoma TV stations added several apparent inaccuracies, including: that Mr. Hinrichs was a Muslim and visited the mosque frequently; that he tried to enter the stadium twice but was rebuffed; that he had a one-way airplane ticket to Algeria; that there were nails in the bomb and that Islamic extremist literature was found in his apartment.

None of these claims are true: Mr. Hinrichs's family, university officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation say Mr. Hinrichs suffered from depression, and the explosion was an isolated event.

Ah, so these are the sources cited by the WSJ. I see. Hinrich's family? It's almost a foregone conclusion that his family would prefer not to believe that he was a terrorist; that he was just depressed and committed suicide. Understandable, of course, and I feel bad for the Hinrich family. But the MSM treats family public statement as absolute fact, therefore that's proof that there was no terrorism? Nope, I'm afraid it won't do.

The article continues:

The FBI's investigation is nearly complete. On Oct. 4, the FBI issued a statement saying, "At this time, there is no known link between Hinrichs and any terrorist or extremist organization(s) or activities."

Ok, so we also see the FBI being used as a source. Two points the WSJ seems to not grasp:

One, the FBI used the phrase, "...at this time...", therefore there cannot be any conclusion of no-terrorism.

Two: the FBI does sometimes have to downplay or hold back information from the MSM for various reasons. It's certainly true that this may very well be the case for the Normal bombing. Again, no possibility of conclusion of no-terrorism.

Here's where it gets fascinating:

In an interview, David L. Boren, president of the University of Oklahoma and the former senator who was chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that while most news reports have been responsible, there has been a "feeding frenzy of false rumors" on blogs and in some local TV stations. On Friday, he said in a letter to students and staff that investigators had found "no evidence of a conspiracy involving others which creates an ongoing threat to our OU community."

Notice he summarily dismisses the blogs and local tv stations as promulgating "false rumors" without backing up his claim with any evidence of anything being a rumor? Further, how exactly does he know there's been no evidence found by "investigators"? That's the question, which, unanswered, casts a pall of uncredibility over his statements.

Now, Mr. Boren is an interesting character, as we see in
this report by Doug Hagmann of the Northeast Intelligence Network, and is hardly one who can be considered a reliable source, once one learns some disturbing information Mr. Hagmann gives us on Mr. Boren's past activities and the circumstances surrounding them.

I urge readers to read the whole Hagmann report, as always. But here's a taste from the report itself:

In the fall of 2001 and in the shadow of 9/11, BOREN went to great, inexplicable and near criminal lengths to protect one of his students. That student, Mohammad Yaseen HAIDER of Pakistan and former President of the O.U. Pakistan Student Association, was indicted by a federal grand jury which accused him of sending an anthrax threat by e-mail. HAIDER was also at the center of controversy for reportedly making false accusations of "hate crimes" against two other O.U. students, accusations that were ultimately dismissed. As HAIDER'S accusations began to fall apart, what did the master of Spin BOREN do? He gave HAIDER a job at O.U.'s Parkview Apartments - the same apartments, by the way, occupied by 2005 bomber Joel Henry HINRICH III. Interestingly, HAIDER continued to work as a clerk at Park View until he was arrested by INS. It gets better, however: two of HAIDER'S Park View neighbors, Hussein Al-Attas and Mukkaram Ali, prior students of Islamic ideology, were also arrested due to their association with terrorist Zacharias Moussaoui, arrested for his involvement in the 9/11 attacks on America.

Wow- think about that. Should anyone who bends over backwards for someone of such character and connections be considered a reliable source in this case by anyone, be it the MSM or the blognet? I don't think so.

Once again the MSM has blown its credibility and demonstrated its worsening irrelevance with respect to the blognet. At least we serious, concerned bloggers (not all bloggers are, but there are good ones amongst us) are doing the people a selfless service whereas the MSM cavalierly dismisses any possibility of terrorism in the face of compelling evidence and in the post-9/11 world.

October 14 2005 Update:

WorldNetDaily reports that Oklahoma University has tightened security for the football stadium outside which Hinrichs blew himself up.

Why would they do that after going to the trouble to downplay the bombing and discourage any thinking that it may have been a terror attempt and that there was no threat to security? Truth be told, security everywhere tends to be increased following a perceived threat or threats, therefore the University must perceive a threat of a terrorism nature despite statements to the contrary.

Read the WND article for yourself. It also contradicts some of the dismissive claims made by the WSJ article above.

Jet Plane Stolen in Florida; Lands in Atlanta: Trial Run for Terror?

Again, I find myself praising Michele Malkin for providing valuable information and links so I can help inform my own readers on incidents that could reasonably be suspected as being terror-related. There have been many in recent days and it's actually becoming hard for one to keep track, so I'm certainly glad I have this blog, TCS.

From Ms. Malkin's post, entitled "A STOLEN JET IN GWINNETT COUNTY" (scroll down to find it), we're alerted to the following information:

The jet, of the type pictured above, was stolen in St. Augustine, Florida and landed, with no trace of the thief, at Gwinnett County Airport-Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville, according to the gwinnettdailypost.com, via Malkin:

Crime scene technicians scoured the interior of the Cessna Citation 7, a 10-passenger aircraft owned by Pinnacle Air of Springdale, Ark., after airport personnel located it on the tarmac about 1 p.m. Monday. The flight crew responsible for the plane was on a chartered flight to St. Augustine. Crew members discovered the jet was missing when they went to check on it Monday morning, said Sgt. D. Mattox of the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Whoever stole the jet didn’t file a flight plan, which authorities said is somewhat unusual for that size of aircraft. The jet suffered damage to the front edge of one wing, but it was not disabled. Police believe the suspect is an experienced pilot who has flown through Gwinnett in the past.

(...)

“It had to be somebody that knew or had experience with this type of aircraft,” Mattox said. “You can’t just walk over from one of these smaller planes and fly this.” Mattox said planes are easy to steal if you know how to fly them, because they usually don’t require a key to start the engines.

(...)

The Gwinnett Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force were also dispatched to investigate the theft as a precaution, but Mattox said there was no indication terrorism was involved.

Ok, so Mattox has to say that there's "no indication" of terrorism here.

But we, the people, can certainly absorb the actual facts and put them into perspective with respect to other suspicious incidents recently reported here on TCS and many other sources, mainly in the blognet. We can also remember the hijacked planes of 9/11 and put this event into perspective with respect to that.

My analysis:

It is certainly plausible and probable, in my view, that the theft of the plane in question could indeed have been used as a sort of test by a terrorist. See how easy it was to steal a jet of that size, undetected, fly it undetected and land undetected, walking away undetected?

If indeed this was a terrorist trial run, it was a resounding success, unfortunately, and that is cause for alarm. Very ominous indeed. Imagine next time that happens, instead of landing at an airfield, the pilot directed the plane right into a massive crowd at, say, a football stadium of tens of thousands of spectators... see how easy it is?

It must not be easy at all! And this principle must also apply to Canada! Does it, in practice? I doubt it.

Time to tighten airport security further, this time on the runway.

By the way, you can also find from Laura Mansfield, via Malkin, that Briscoe Field is where Mohammed Atta, the 9/11 ringleader, as well as two other terrorists, trained to fly.

Think about that.

Mainstream Media Questions Itself on Norman, OK Bombing

It looks like the mainstream media (MSM) has heard the blognet's query: "Where is the MSM on the Norman, Oklahoma terror-bombing attempt?".

CBSNews.com (yes, that CBS of Rathergate infamy, ironically) is asking essentially the same question. Their headline is:

"Is Lack Of Big Media Coverage Of Oklahoma Explosion OK?

The Canadian Sentinel applauds their asking such a necessary question.

Of course, it's essential to read the whole article to get the full picture.

My question now: If we the blognet hadn't been covering the story and questioning the MSM's astonishing silence on an apparent terrorist act, would the MSM ever have begun to care at all? After all, if the people, via the blognet, didn't care, why would the MSM?

Worth pondering and discussing.

Brison Claims Bureaucrats Punished for Adscam; Unions Deny It

Public Works and Government Services Canada Minister Scott Brison has claimed, according to CNews, that the Liberal Government of Paul Martin has disciplined civil servants for involvement in Adscam even before the Gomery Inquiry report comes out.

But...

The government refuses to provide any details beyond Mr. Brison's claim, citing "privacy issues".

And the union representative denies any such punishment:

The president of the union representing civil service professionals said she found talk of discipline both premature and puzzling. No sponsorship-related discipline has come to the attention of either of the major government unions.

"I was under the impression that nothing would occur before Gomery," said Michele Demers of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada.

"I'm quite shocked actually that statements like that would be made publicly by a minister prior to Gomery filing his report.

"I'm certainly hoping this is not a political ploy to try and find culprits at any cost before we have any valid report and information on the entire saga."

(Emphasis mine)

Commons Public Accounts Committee head John Williams responds to Mr. Brison's claim:

"They're going to hang this whole thing on bureaucratic failure when we know full well that there was serious, close and intimate involvement - and likely management - by . . . ministers and others,"

Be certain to read the whole article. There's more.

I believe this is a shameful, cynical, Machiavellian scheme on the part of the Paul Martin Liberals to try and paint an impression that they have been on top of the scandalous corruption and criminality that has occurred under Adscam in an attempt to reassure the electorate that they've cleaned up the mess, the culprits have been punished and all is well.

But why are they doing this, after they repeated themselves innumerable times that we must "let Gomery do his work" before saying or doing anything?

I can only state my opinion as being: The Liberals under Paul Martin are cheating! They are trying to have it every way they want and to weasel out of the scandal by breaking their repeated word to wait until all the facts have been independently discovered.

If these people are not corrupt, then no one in the world has ever been corrupt. But since corruption has happened, it's impossible for these people to claim they're not corrupt when faced with irrefutable evidence that they are.

What else are Paul Martin's Liberals lying to us about? What other solemn words to us have they broken?

"Terrorist Act" at Georgia Tech: Bombs Found in Courtyard... Plus Even More

Photos from WXIA-TV Atlanta.

From Michelle Malkin and Little Green Footballs, via Newsbeat1, plus a report from News 11Alive:

On the heels of the attempted terrorist bombing outside the football stadium at Norman, Oklahoma, comes this:

This morning in Atlanta, Georgia, three explosive devices were found between two dormitory buildings on the campus of Georgia Tech University. An Atlanta police official told News 11Alive that it was a "terrorist act".

According to 11Alive.com,

One of the devices exploded, injuring the custodian who found them inside a plastic bag. Two others were detonated by a bomb squad.

(...)

"It is a terrorist act at this point and depending on the outcome of the investigation it potentially could become a federal violation as well," said Major C.W. Moss of the Atlanta Police Department.

(All emphasis mine)

11 Alive.com also reports:

...The explosives were made up of chemicals placed inside plastic bottles and could have seriously injured someone, officials said....

This information coincides with information from the Northeast Intelligence Network in which it is reported that similar plastic bottles filled with unidentified substance were seized from the vehicle belonging to Norman, Oklahoma suicide bomber Joel Henry Hinrichs.

The terrorist incident is being investigated by the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Tech Police Department, the ATF, the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to 11 Alive.

Michelle Malkin also directs us to this, another report of a finding of an explosive device in public...

Plus this, also...

Apparently, the apparent terror-oriented explosives-related incidents of the past several days, coupled with the well-reported-by-the-mainstream media NYC Subway terror alert, are reasonable cause for concern that there could be further terror-related incidents.

Therefore, The Canadian Sentinel recommends all of us keep our eyes open for suspicious items, persons and activities and not be afraid to report them to police and other authorities. It's possible that threat awareness and vigilance will someday save countless lives. Better safe than sorry.

Libranos Promise to Cut Taxes?

First, the Liberals of Paul Martin announce this unwieldy, sketchy, redistributionist scheme to "return" the surplus to Canadians in the future.

Now I just found out that Finance Minister Ralph Goodale has promised to cut taxes in the next federal budget. One cannot help but be skeptical of this pre-election posturing, which continues a recent string of promises made.

Mr. Goodale told the House of Commons Industry Committee, according to Yahoo News:

"We have reduced taxes in every budget since 1997, including the two budgets I presented in 2004 and 2005, and -- just watch me -- we're going to do it again,"

Well, as far as I can see from my own paycheck, there's no noticeable reduction in my income or payroll taxes. They still look confiscatory as hell to me.

Further, is this "promise" of Goodale's genuine or is it more Librano BS? Are the tax cuts some that have already been set into deferred motion in previous budgets, or are they new? I'd really like to know, but I hold not my breath- the Libranos have only disappointed me since they seized power way back in 1993. They still haven't "scrapped, killed, abolished" the hated GST as they promised way, way back then! Why should we believe another Librano promise?

Goodale indicated he plans to tell us more in a fiscal update three weeks from now. But he failed to specify whether they were to be just promises or a laying out specific, brand-new, never-before-planned cuts.

Kind of like a fiscal striptease by a chubby, middle-aged man. Who cares for that?

Hey, Ralphie, fugettaboutit! We know all about your little racket. We won't be fooled by more promises about taxes. You Libranos long ago overspent your political capital via your incredible corruption! Yes, corruption, corruption, corruption!

Am I wrong? Isn't it a mere cynical ploy to manipulate the people into voting for the Libmob yet again?

"Liberal"? No way! No thanks!

Oklahoma: The Terror Plot Thickens

Continuing its coverage of the October 1st bombing incident in Norman, OK, the Northeast Intelligence Network further reports:

In a story that received virtually no media attention since the Saturday “lone suicide bombing" at the O.U. football stadium packed with 84,000 fans, details are emerging that a larger-scale Islamic terrorist operation was to revisit America's heartland for the second time in a decade. (...)

Among the information received from its sources:

In the style reminiscent of the blast at the Murrah building that killed 171 people on 19 April 1995, it was also confirmed that HINRICHS attempted to purchase a large quantity of the fertilizer ammonium nitrate, the very same compound that was used in the Ryder truck bomb just miles from where the Murrah building once stood, and a favorite bomb component used by Middle Eastern terrorists.

Plus this analysis by one source based on evidence found thus far:

”It appears that HINRICHS was part of a larger plan that included members of an Islamic terrorist cell based in and around the Norman and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area. As a Caucasian, it was much easier for him to obtain the materials needed to create a large bomb, act in concert with members of the local terrorist cell, and strike when relative calm was the word of the day,”

The same source also said:

Federal authorities are investigating HINRICH’S roommates, friends and companions, some from Pakistan, who were on a watch list of potential terrorists in that area. Sources of funding and financing are also under investigation, and arrests are very possible. Thankfully, more than a few things went wrong, but the failed plan left HINRICHS holding the bag in the end – literally,” added this source. “Otherwise, we could have had a bombing on the scale of Oklahoma City in 1995.”

As always, readers are urged to read the whole report at NIN via the link above.

With all of this information and analysis pouring in from law enforcement sources, it's troubling that the mainstream media (MSM) is virtually ignorant of the investigation. The significance of the evidence surrounding the "suicide" bombing seems to be completely lost on them.

Is this evidence that, perhaps, the MSM has allowed itself to become irrelevant in terms of gathering important information and relaying it to the citizenry who truly must know of any threats to their safety from terrorists?

For all its monetary, human and technological resources, the MSM seems to be falling behind civilian investigators, reporters and bloggers, all of whom are without a doubt giving this matter its fully due treatment and providing all relevant information to all who care to find it via the blognet.

Now what?

Update on Norman, Ok, Stadium Bombing

The Northeast Intelligence Network has released on its site further information on the bombing incident that occured on the night of October 1, 2005, outside of a football stadium in Norman, Oklahoma, including:

...one significant report has been confirmed by two student sources at the University interviewed by this investigator: HINRICHS had ties - close ties - with one or perhaps two men of Arab origin while attending the college in Norman, Oklahoma. This report was also further substantiated today by a law enforcement source no longer on the case (as the case is now being handled by federal authorities).

The source is quoted here:

"Obviously, I cannot go on the record, but you are 'not wrong' in your findings," stated this law enforcement officer. "There is much more to come out of this [investigation], including the likelihood of Middle Easterners from this area being involved in this bombing," he added. "Right now, no one is talking, and we have been verbally ordered not to make any comments to any media - period."

Note that officials are under orders not to talk to the media.

The source also said, according to the NIN:

"At the end of the day, enough evidence will be collected to prove that this was a terrorist bombing that went wrong and Islamic men with terrorist beliefs were also involved.

And ended with:

"If you could have seen the people walking out of the stadium [Saturday night], you would have thought nothing happened at all. No one seems to believe that it will ever happen again, ever happen to them. It almost did. I feel like everyone is living in a fantasyland."

I must stress that it's important to read the full, actual report on the NIN.

Also reporting today on the bombing incident is World Net Daily.

The WND reports, in part:

Doug Hagmann, a seasoned investigator, told WND he was informed by multiple reliable law-enforcement sources familiar with the investigation into the incident that authorities recovered a "significant amount" of "jihad" materials, as well as Hinrichs' computer.

(...)

Hagmann also said those same sources indicated police and federal agents "had pulled additional explosives from [Hinrichs'] house," including triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, "homemade explosive [that is] very potent but relatively easily manufactured."

WorldNetDaily reported earlier that officials carted away a huge cache of explosives from Hinrichs' apartment. Police were overheard telling residents it would take "several trips and could take up to 24 hours" to remove it all, according to the Daily Oklahoman. A canister trailer used for detonating or transporting potentially explosive material was being used to haul items away.

Authorities at the U.S. federal level are involved:

FBI spokesman Gary Johnson told WND he couldn't add anything, other than the investigation is ongoing.

His agency has been joined in the investigation by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; the Joint Terrorism Task Force; the University of Oklahoma Police Department; the Norman Police Department; and the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office.

Be sure to read the whole WND article.

Again, I must ask: where is the mainstream media? Are they out of the loop? Have they lost the trust of the authorities? Do they care about the very real threat of terrorism, including inside of North America?

If the CBC or the CBS, for example, were reporting with the same information using the same sources, would that be necessarily any more credible just because it's the mainstream media? Not at all. Anyone saying otherwise couldn't prove it.

Many on the left would rather ignore the evidence and ridicule those who care enough to find out what happened outside that Norman, Oklahoma football stadium on the night of October 1st, 2005.

What happened September 11th, 2001 was, after all, unthinkable, but it happened, as we all know and remember. Is it still unthinkable that it could happen again? Is it unthinkable that it almost happened again on October 1st, 2005?

It's better to be safe than sorry, as the saying goes. Are you listening, Prime Minister Paul Martin? What is your regime doing to help prevent terrorism inside Canada, the U.S. and abroad?

The Canadian Sentinel will continue to monitor the ongoing investigation.

The blognet rises to the occasion:

Michelle Malkin is also on the case. Go see what she's got. I'm pleased that I'm not alone out here. There are other bloggers watching the investigation and discussing it. i believe that once again the blognet will force the MSM to take notice, roll up its sleeves, get off its fat ass and do their job too.

Update: OK Bombing: Mounting Evidence It Was Attempted Terrorism

While the MSM dithers, Northeast Intelligence Network is on the story, investigating and reporting on the apparent failed terror attack outside of an Oklahoma football stadium last Saturday night.

21-year-old Joel Henry Hinrichs III of Colorado Springs, CO has been identified as the bomber.

Reportedly, Islamic bomb-making materials and "other Jihad materials" were seized from Hinrichs' apartment.

There's also a video to be viewed via the NIN site.

Interesting. According to NIN Director Douglas Hagmann's report, authorities are providing much information to NIN on condition of anonymity. Yet, where's the MSM reports, other than those that attempt to downplay the incident by claiming it was merely "suicide" while not mentioning terrorism possibilities? Perhaps the MSM has lost the trust of authorities? Perhaps the MSM wishes to keep the American population in the dark as to the very real threat to the country from Jihadists?

Via Drudge, at Brietbart.com, the incident seems extremely sanitized, while merely reporting that the bomber had "committed suicide" and not even addressing the question of terror.

A must read at the Northeast Intelligence Network. There's more...

Update: 04 October 2005:

The investigation is continuing. Reports are beginning to roll in. There's more, both on the NIN and at WorldNetDaily today. The evidence and questions keep coming.

Meanwhile, where is the mainstream media?

Expect another post here on TCS later in the day.

Terrorist Attack In Oklahoma Last Night: No MSM Reports!

From Northeast Intelligence Network:

On the heels of another terrorist attack in Bali, there has been one on American soil just last night. I haven't seen any MSM report on this US attack from a scan of the main news sites so far.

Douglas J. Hagmann, Director of the Northeast Intelligence Network reports:

2 October 2005; 0545 a.m. EDT During the Oklahoma University and Kansas State Football game Saturday night, a large explosion occurred outside of the stadium packed with 84,000 football fans that was heard up to four miles from the stadium.

Where's the MSM right now? Isn't this a very significant thing?

The report continues:

The blast happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. CDT on the South Oval, across the street from the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, near the George Lynn Cross Botany-Microbiology building the oval's east side, and near an area where numerous busses to transport people from the stadium were parked.

A number of agencies were on-site, including Oklahoma University Police, the Norman, Oklahoma Police, the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, state medical examiner's office, as well as the FBI and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

According to one local law enforcement official who spoke to the Northeast Intelligence Network at 3:45 a.m. EDT on the strict condition of anonymity, “other un-detonated explosive devices were found in the area cordoned off by police and federal officials.” The police are working on one theory – and at present it remains a theory - that the so-called “suicide-bomber” was attempting to attach bombs to the buses parked in the area when one of the a bomb detonated prematurely.

The gender, race and ethnic origin of the “suicide bomber” has yet to be publicly released, although authorities on-site believe they know the identity of the bomber. According to the officer who spoke to the Northeast Intelligence Network, officials are “not yet ruling out the involvement of others,” but declined to elaborate any further.

(Initial report filed by Thomas B. Morrison, Northeast Intelligence Network Investigative Analyst on-site at the University of Oklahoma.)

The question at the moment: where the hell is the MSM? With all their resources, why, at the time of this post, haven't they reported like crazy? Is Cindy Sheehan more important news than an actual terrorist attack on American soil?
