The poll of 1,600 Canadians, commissioned by the Montreal-based Association for Canadian Studies, found 67 per cent of respondents agreed with the statement: "Canada should follow its own interests even if it leads to conflict with other nations.
"This contrasts with 49 per cent in 2003 who agreed with this view," notes the study of Canadian attitudes towards the country's place on the global stage, prepared by ACS executive director Jack Jedwab.
Credit must go to Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who, with his own excellent leadership and ballsiness in facing the world, has provided the badly-needed leadership and example which was always lacking in Liberal Prime Ministers.
Stephen Harper has inspired Canadians to stand up for Canada and demand better! Just as in his campaign slogans!
Ignatieff, the Liberal Leader, well, what can I say? He's just returned to his birthplace after spending almost all of his adult life overseas, and who has said he's an "American".
Who better, therefore, than Stephen Harper and the Conservatives to lead Canada boldly, big, hairy balls-a-bulgin', into the future, facing the world with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude?
