TAIPEI—On February 25 at the presidential inauguration in Seoul, South Korea, representatives from Taiwan were not allowed to enter the ceremony.
On February 26, Mr. Ma Ying-Jeou, the Kuomintang presidential candidate, strongly condemned Beijing's iron fist behind the incident.
Ma considered Beijing's attitude extremely rude and unhelpful to its relationship with Taiwan.
Regarding to the incident that happened to Wang Jin-pyng, president of the Legislative Yuan, and Mark Chen, National Security Secretary General, Ma expressed his regret. On the other hand, he strongly condemned Beijing, "This is too much!" Ma didn't understand why Beijing had to object and stop a friendly action as such. He commented that Beijing's move was very rude to the people of Taiwan.
Ma said that Wang represented the will of people in Taiwan as the president of the legislature and it is extremely inappropriate for Beijing to humiliate him under such a circumstance. Ma also commented, "I don't think South Korea should be subjected to such pressure (from Beijing) either."
Why do the countries of the world so often let Communist China tell them what to do and what to not do?
