Municipal leaders heading home after Stephane Dion pledged to solve their infrastructure deficit yesterday might have pondered a comment by Abraham Lincoln. "The plan is as thin as homeopathic soup made by boiling the shadow of a pigeon that starved to death," the U.S. president once warned.
In one of those political promises that garner headlines but are in reality meaningless, Mr. Dion said a Liberal government would direct any unanticipated surpluses that exceed a $3-billion contingency fund to infrastructure spending.
(Doesn't that sound as if Stephane Dion and the Liberal Party of Canada have no intention of paying down our nation's debt any quicker than a measly three bil a year? The Conservatives are paying it off way, way faster than that, putting, I believe, all of each year's surplus into debt repayment, and we're talking something around ten billion a year here, if I recall correctly, plus the Conservatives' infrastructure funding comes before any surplus, not after, like the Liberals would have it. Meaning, under the Liberals, with their extravagant spending plans, they'd probably have no surplus, therefore, there'd be no infrastructure spending at all, and this is worthless, much like the Liberal Party itself!)
But mainly, it's because Mr. Dion has already made so many spending commitments that any Liberal government is going to be flirting with financial disaster if it follows through on all of them. The dilemma of what to do with unanticipated surpluses is likely to be the least of the Liberal leader's concerns.
Black propaganda to be released by the Conservatives this weekend suggests the Liberals have made commitments costing more than $80-billion over a four-year period. They include $5-billion to honour the Kelowna Accord; $11-billion to live up to the Kyoto Protocol on climate change; $20-billion over four years to fight the war on poverty; another $5-billion over five years for the national daycare plan and so on.
Eww! Ouch! Tax and spend us into deficit while creating a socialist paradise for adherents of the Far Left, who'd then vote Liberal, guaranteeing Liberal governments for the future, guaranteeing the eventual breakup of the Federation, as Canada cannot withstand any more Liberalism. I believe I warned in the runup to the last federal election that if the Liberals were returned to power, the country would fracture very rapidly, beginning with Quebec and Alberta. While the separatist movement in those provinces is dormant, to have the Liberals back in power will revive those dragons.
I mean, we've got a united federation now, thanks to the Conservatives, who treat Alberta and Quebec with a degree of genuine respect never, never, NEVER observed under a Liberal regime in Ottawa. The federation is united like never before. We'd have to be stupid, insane and ungrateful to turn away from the Harper Conservatives; rejecting such a great government would be an act of great foolishness and self-destruction, particularly when you look at the scary Far Left alternatives.
We cannot afford to go back to a Liberal regime. We'd be taking several steps backwards, in fact, to the dark days of the Chretien-Martin era. No telling what scary, extreme social reengineering the Liberals would put on the super-fast track if they ever return to power; we recall SSM... next thing you know, Canada would have Sharia Law and be well on the way to becoming an Islamic Kalifate. We know that there are indeed Islamic fascists within the Liberal Party and that they helped Stephane Dion become leader, meaning that he owes them big time.
Oh, and I'm by no means anywhere near finished explaining why returning to the Liberals would be very dangerous for Canada and Canadians. There's so much more that the rest will have to wait for future postings.
We're in for a bumpy ride in the near future as the Liberals keep up with their pathetic, transparent bluffing and keep either sitting on their hands or scurrying out of the House rather than standing up and being counted like real Canadians with balls. Heh- even the Senate, with its Liberal majority, won't dare block the anti-crime bill now, as doing so would cause an election, and they don't want to put their Parliamentary Liberal brothers and sisters in that fix. The Harper Conservatives are playing the Liberals in both Houses like a grand master of chess. A government and leader with such intelligence and strategic/tactical skill is exactly what Canada needs in a dangerous world such as we have today. Turning instead to the Liberals would be suicidal. After all, the Liberals are so deluded that they actually think that the Taliban would respect the building of hospitals, schools, etc., and not attack foreigners. The Liberals are so incredibly out of touch with reality that they think that we can stop fighting the Taliban at this point and expect them to just go away. They're not going away, and if we pull out, they'll retake Afghanistan. Too bad the Liberals are too bloody stupid to understand this reality. But what do we expect of a party who doesn't even understand the Constitution Act and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and actually claims things about them that are completely false?
Don't you dare think that maybe, just maybe, the Liberals somehow learned any lessons, or are somehow different than last time around. For they're no better... and, in fact, are worse, much, much worse. Don't even think of voting for them unless they can PROVE beyond all reasonable doubt that they've changed, and that's NOT going to happen, except in the minds of really, really stupid, delusional people.
I really do fear a return to the Liberal regime, just as Americans with functioning brains fear a return to a Democratic regime, which would make the Clinton era seem like paradise by comparison.
Going back to the Liberals is like Russia going back to the Soviet era, although they're well on their way there, unfortunately, and it appears that the leadership of Russia wants to go back to the Cold War big time; just listen to Vladimir Putin issue grave threats against the West, including of a nuclear nature.
Stay tuned. I'll never be finished with those gawdawful Liberals. Because they intend no good. Anyone who claims otherwise is delusional or at least an extreme partisan.
