Audit Uncovers Liberal PCO Corruption In Contracting

"They'll never find out about our dirty little secret!"

Well, we are finding out, Stephane and Jean. You've been caught! Better pull your pants up!

Librano$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

The long-delayed report examined a sample of 39 contracts signed in 2002-2003, during the last year of the Jean Chretien government and in the midst of the sponsorship scandal.

At the time, the Privy Council Office — home to the prime minister’s office and the centre of the public service — signed more than 3,000 contracts annually, worth $21 million.

The sample files together were worth about $1.6 million, or almost eight per cent of the value of all contracts signed that fiscal year.

That's just a small sample, mind y'all. And that's by itself significantly more money than the amount we're going to investigate in the inquiry into the Mulroney-Schreiber non-affair. Now, doesn't it appear that our priorities are a tad askew? Which thing should we really investigate?

Investigators found seven of the contracts were not properly authorized, including cases where the cost was higher than the approved amount and others where there was no signature at all.

Sounds like ADSCAM was only the tip of the iceberg that sank (and will keep sinking) the Liberal Titanic.

Four of the contracts contained no statement of the work required, and in two contracts the description of the work was drawn up by the contractor rather than the government.

Oh, dear!

Time to swing the spotlight from the current, irrelevant non-issues back to the real issues!

Like I said, the skeletons are being found in the closets. And we'll no doubt be learning about more of them in the future...
