All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.
Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.
And don't forget that it hasn't been proven that there's any causal relationship between so-called "greenhouse gases" and temperatures across the world. Circumstantial observations are just that: circumstantial, and must be seen as such, rather than used as dogmatic "proof" that certain gases actually somehow cause the planet to warm. Sure, there's theory to explain how it might be, but still it's only theory awaiting conclusive scientific proof. Further, it also hasn't been demonstrated that temperature fluctuations of small amounts are linked to any extreme weather phenomena.
Sorry, but the case hasn't been made to scare me about "global warming/climate change". Far as I'm concerned, it's really just another international socialist plot. Such plots are easy enough to carry out as long as the mainstream media plays along, plus a bunch of unethical scientists agree to agree on a policy position allegedly based on "sound science" and reliable data.
The question also must be asked: Did the IPCC simply make up the data, or manipulate it somehow in order to fit their worldview and agenda? How can we be certain that they're not pulling a fast one on us?
Why must we trust scientists any more readily than we trust politicians, used car salesmen, dictators, judges, lawyers, etc.? Never forget that all people are corruptible, potentially. And some are more easily corrupted than others, particularly when we consider peer pressure, financial pressure, greed and moral and ethical relativism. It's really easy to rationalize lying and doing wrong. So we must question the IPCC. After all, the IPCC is a creature of the evil, immoral, unethical United Nations, which is effectively controlled by nations run by those who do NOT have humanity's, nor the planet's, interests at heart.
