Massive Vancouver Explosion Was Fuel-Air Type

Story here.

The explosion that decimated a string of businesses on West Broadway early yesterday morning was the same type of blast sometimes used to blow up fortified bunkers and tanks, to clear minefields, and which brought down TWA flight 800 in 1996.

“The explosion was an air-fuel explosion,” said Constable Tim Fanning, spokesman for the Vancouver police. Police say the blast inside a Taco Del Mar restaurant at 686 West Broadway at 2:30 a.m. was arson. No one was injured.

“It was quite a blast, there was all sorts of twisted metal that exploded out onto the street and glass that covered the six lanes of Broadway,” said Constable Fanning.

An air-fuel explosion is a small blast that disperses a flammable liquid into the air, creating a cloud that is then lit by a second charge, causing a larger explosion. Such explosions are used in war zones to destroy enemy fortifications and neutralize mines, but they can also occur by accident, as in the case of TWA Flight 800 off the U.S. east coast in 1996.

I note that police refused to identify the suspect. Wonder why? Who was it? Could it be a member of a sleeper cell? Why not tell us? Why is there so much secrecy surrounding such things that sound very much like they could be terror-related, and in this case it appears as if it could be a test...

They identify lone gunmen who go into schools and shoot people. Why not identify people who commit acts that remind us of terrorism? Could it be that the police are afraid of the reaction from the CAIR-CAN if they name "one of their" people as the perp? Or, much more likely, is it as a matter of national security that they don't name the perp? They might even know the perp already. Withholding the name might be in the interests of an ongoing investigation, and/or they might want to interrogate the perp to gain intelligence about any associates/sleeper cell with whom he might be connected. Yes, that'd make sense to me. At least the MSM doesn't get in their way and ruin their work, which is surprising!

Again, I note that the authorities are all too quick, in fact, immediate, to dismiss any possibility of any linkage to terrorists or terror plots. Come on; how can they possibly know this before there's been an investigation? Think about that. If you don't think, you'll believe them, but if you realize that the can't possibly know right away whether the perp has any ties to any enemy entities who plan to commit acts of mass destruction/murder.

Oh, and, Leftists (yes, you, D.B. and "SL" ;)), please note that I didn't do a post right away when the thing hit the news. I didn't say automatically, "Hey, it's terrorism". So you can't credibly mock me; you must admit that the whole thing does look fishy. Really, do you always trust the authorities, all the time? You really believe they'd never mislead us, hold back information, in the name of preventing public panic? Do you really want to play three monkeys and pretend that there's no danger whatsoever from Islamic revolutionary terrorists? Fine; be delusional if you wish. Just shut up and let realistic adults who care about and understand the real world discuss reality. You can babble about Shakespeare and make fun of and demonize conservatives all you want; it's irrelevant to us. Cheers!
