In an extraordinarily rare demonstration of (potential) usefulness, the United Nations makes a useful move.
In what has been labeled a “rare move”, the United Nations (UN) has directly called the Chinese regime to account for its extensive human rights violations.
Among its hard-hitting recommendations, the UN Committee Against Torture told the regime to arrange for an investigation into the organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners and for the prosecution of those responsible.
The Committee examined China's compliance with the Convention Against Torture, which China signed in 1988, and published its recommendations and observations on 21 November.
The recommendations state that the Chinese regime should:
“... immediately conduct or commission an independent investigation of the claims that some Falun Gong practitioners have been subjected to torture and used for organ transplants and take measures, as appropriate, to ensure that those responsible for such abuses are prosecuted and punished.”
There's more that the UN is demanding of the evil Communist regime.
While this move may potentially help raise international awareness and lend further credibility to the organ harvesting issue, I somehow doubt it will matter much. The Leftist/Communist-appeasing mainstream media of the Free World is unlikely to make much hay of this UN move, and the Communists won't do anything to satisfy the UN's wishful-thinking demands. After all, what is the UN going to do to China? They won't even do anything to stop the much-weaker-militarily Iran, who now reportedly has enough enriched uranium to make between one and three nuclear weapons and is said to be very, very close to actually having such weapons ready for use.
At least the UN is no longer in denial, officially. This is a start, and everything begins with a start.
From tiny acorns, mighty oaks grow. Let's take this UN move and water it, make it grow...
I see hope in the eyes of those Chinese who are aware of this UN declaration. It will only motivate them to keep working to overthrow the Communist Party. And they will succeed. History is the precedent for the collapse of Communist regimes... it's inevitable... death is in the very genes of Communist regimes everywhere... we KNOW it.
