Mr. Bernier, however, rolled with the chaotic scene that unfolded in an upscale downtown hotel at a dinner at which he was the keynote speaker, calling the interruptions "an expression of democracy."
(I'm sure a little bit of appropriate sarcasm might've worked its way into the Foreign Minister's comment re. the leftofascist militants' refusal to let him speak without being interrupted. Surely, part of democracy is freedom of expression, but so is mutual respect and waiting one's turn to speak and allowing others to have their say without being shouted down)
The aim of last night's speech was to try to persuade fellow Quebecers to stay the course and "finish the job" in Afghanistan, even though opposition parties have called for a withdrawal of troops between now and February 2009.
Mr. Bernier eventually finished his job -- but not before almost a dozen men and women were removed from the dinner after rising individually to fire off a series of verbal volleys.
"Canada cannot, without losing all credibility in the international arena, simply go back on its word and abandon such a crucial mission," Mr. Bernier eventually told the international symposium of Afghanistan experts, academics and diplomats.
That's right. And the left fails to learn history, which tells us that Middle Eastern countries have always been angry when Western nations pull out their military forces, allowing such Neanderthal anencephalopaths as the Taliban to take over, enslave, convert, torture, rape, pillage and murder...
But the left doesn't care worth squat about what will happen to the Afghan people if we pull out and let the Taliban take over again by force, tyrannizing the People of that nation and bringing Osama bin Laden back to train the next generation of Mohammed Attas to attack the Free World in the name of literalist/revisionist interpretations of Islam, facilitated by such regimes as Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, all of whom reject freedom, democracy, the rule of law and human rights (don't let them fool you with their phony or mostly irrelevant "elections").
The left only cares about fighting normalcy, reason, logic, morality, denying reality, rewriting/denying history and elevating their own bizarre, insane, stupid ideological movement.
I propose a deal with the moonbat leftofascist militants:
-Let's, you and me, sign a binding legal document (like the "Kyoto Accord"; you know that one very well; it's your current fad "gospel" of sorts) which basically entails that if we pull out of Afghanistan, you will have the Government of Canada pay your airfare so you may relocate to Afghanistan to show the world that, no, the Taliban won't come back and, for example, blow womens' heads off in former soccer fields whenever someone accuses them of infidelity or something when they get raped by men.
-You will live in Afghanistan for a period of no less than twenty-four months, during which period you must obey all orders from whatever regime rules that nation at any one time.
-You are forbidden to complain about the government and what it does to people.
-You will submit unconditionally and completely to that regime and, of course, you will have to abandon all the rights and freedoms (such as they are today, under attack from big poopy bums like you guys) which you currently enjoy (and take for granted, plus deny for those who aren't of your extremist ideological worldview) as citizens of the Free World.
So how about that? It's a win-win thing for both normal, realistic people and stupid moonbat poopheads, who will be getting what they ask for. Unfortunately, it's also a win for Osama bin Laden, so, on second thought, fuggeddaboutit!
