(My interjections between excerpted paragraphs are in italics)
In his new book, The Assault on Reason, Al Gore pleads, "We must stop tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of intentionally clouding the public's ability to discern the truth." Gore repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing as the central focus of public discourse.
I'm impressed with Gore's impressive rhetoric. If those are his own words, then he's an incredibly intelligent, but selfish, greedy, uncaring Machiavellian manipulator on a global scale. But I suspect he lacks the intelligence to construct such a statement on his own and has no bloody idea what he's saying... it's most likely that a brilliant spin doctor such as, perhaps, the likes of a James "I did not crash at Roswell in 1947" Carville, gave him those words.
If Gore really means what he writes, he has an opportunity to make a difference by leading by example on the issue of global warming.
A cooperative and productive discussion of global warming must be open and honest regarding the science. Global warming threats ought to be studied and mitigated, and they should not be deliberately exaggerated as a means of building support for a desired political position.
I concur with that paragraph. The whole Chicken-Little "The climate is changing and it's all our fault, so we must shut down the Free World while China spews whatever it wants, or we're extinct like dinosaurs..." campaign is about building support for a radically extreme, greed-based, dangerous political ideology. I still haven't seen any case made to support this leftwing nonsense propagated by the likes of Al Gore.
Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,'' have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them. Gore can show sincerity in his plea for scientific honesty by publicly acknowledging where science has rebutted his claims.
But only an uninformed, guillible fool will expect a leftwing extremist like Al Gore to be honest about his faults and the faults of his dishonest political ideology.
Read on for the rest....
And, as usual, I could care less for the leftwing retort, unless they've some sort of a smoking gun to offer right here and now which will withstand all doubt, all rational, logical, scientific questioning. And, no, I do NOT (wink to superleftwing blogger "Balbulican") have to tell them what I'd consider to be a smoking gun, for if they have a smoking gun, they'll know it and provide it as the irrefutable proof. Whoever is holding one knows it, the impact of the recoil still felt in the hand, the smell of gunpowder in the nose, the sight of gunsmoke pouring from the gun... they don't need me to tell them that they're holding it! And, let me tell you, no one is holding a smoking gun. I don't see anyone with one. Nor has anyone offered one.
There is no smoking gun, so why are we told to sacrifice the Free World while the non-Free World can do whatever the damn hell it pleases? I smell, not a smoking gun, but a hidden, sinister, leftwing/evil agenda in this whole climate-change-is-our-fault Big Lie-type campaign.
In short, I remind the left of soundbites they so incessantly uttered in the leadup to the campaign to remove Saddam Hussein from power:
Prove it.
Make the case.
Oh, and lest leftists waste time dropping a link to the IPCC report (A UN document, for heaven's sake! Get smart!), oh, puh-leeeeze! Don't bother to do that again. It's been demonstrated to have more and bigger holes in it than the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean today!
