First they considered banning men from running in some ridings in the next election.
Then there was an outcry. Many, including The Canadian Sentinel, denounced them as sexist for considering such a thing for feasibility, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms notwithstanding.
Now under pressure and smarting from accusations of bigotry, intolerance and other terrible things, they're backing off... a little. Just a little.
They think it's ok to have "quiet conversations" with all men who are considering seeking the Liberal nominations in some ridings. They hope to somehow get them to step aside just so a woman can take the nomination. Hmm... they've done this stuff before with Chretien loyalists, I believe... like Sheila Copps, who was pushed out of the running by Martinites for not being a Martinite. It didn't help them. All it did was divide them.
Doing that on the basis of characteristics identified in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a violation of the Charter rights of the victims.
Too little. Too late. They're still sexists. They'll always be considered as such from now on.
Well, if the left thinks it's ok to "discourage", not "ban", men from exercising their Charter rights, then how about we "discourage", say, Muslim fundamentalists and militant homosexual activists from running, too?
Hell, let's just discourage stupid moonbats from running. Beginning with Stephane Dion himself!
Shame on Stephane Dion for encouraging/not opposing this blatant sex discrimination bigotry!
Sexist Liberals. In Canada.
I didn't make this up.
Choose your Canada.
Reject the Stephane Dion Liberals!
