I recall doing a post on leftist icon Tommy Douglas's views awhile back.
Now I've learned a little more of Mr. Douglas's views from when he was a younger man.
Oh, my... who'd have thought Tommy Douglas, the champion of tolerance and compassion, used to believe such things?
Castration of criminals and homosexuals? Sterilization of the mentally ill and the herding of the disabled into "camps"?
Apparently, Mr. Douglas forever changed following a visit to pre-war Nazi Germany.
Nothing like a firsthand, in-one's-face physical manifestation of the consequences of leftist dogmatism to shock a leftist into rationality and sanity, eh?

Oh, and that article at the first link above also mentions something about the pro-abortion organization, "Planned Parenthood""
The most obvious modern manifestation of eugenics we see in another way, notably in the advocacy of abortion services for women by organizations committed to societal "advance."
How many people know that after Hitler demonstrated unmistakably what eugenics could lead to, the American Eugenics Society decided it should change its name.
Today it is called Planned Parenthood. Its techniques may have changed.
The inclination to run our lives has not.
Beware: leftism is still a dangerous ideology. For example, leftism promulgates the lie of Islam as a "tolerant, peaceful" religion, while if leftists actually learn for themselves independently what Islam is really about, they'll stop making such claims. And I've seen that happen a bit already.
Besides, many Muslims are now calling for a whole new sect of Islam which rejects the supremacism, intolerance and murderous jihad doctrines of old-style, dark-days Islam, which we see still being practiced today, every day!
I encourage all modernist, progressive Muslims to work tirelessly to transform their faith so as to make it compatible with the rest of the contemporary world and to stop the unnecessary, theocratically-ordered hatred, intolerance and murder.
Islam can indeed change and become an acceptable religion in and of itself. But only Muslims can make this happen. And it absolutely needs to happen! After all, other religions modernized and adapted. Islam cannot remain mired in the days of barbarianism and the rule of the sword. It cannot, else it will defeat itself, for if a mouse attacks an elephant, at first the elephant will be frightened, but will eventually become sick and tired of being terrorized and will therefore put its foot down... on the mouse.
Unfortunately, most leftists still don't see the light when they see innocents having their heads cut off on TV by masked Islamists with rusty knives screaming "Allahu Akhbar!"
But if Tommy Douglas could transform his way of thinking by seeing what was wrong with it, then there's hope. One leftist at a time will change. And they'll hopefully talk to other leftists and help them to think more rationally.
No one has to be a leftist. No one needs to be told what to think. Imposition of dogma is incompatible with human nature and with universally-accepted human rights. Human beings are born to be free, not to be controlled, nor to be slaves.
