Forget Diplomacy

"The purpose of diplomacy is to prolong a crisis" -Mr. Spock
...according to Peter Worthington. h/t: NealeNews.com
Think about it. Isn't that what "diplomacy" does best? Procrastinates, confuses, extends.
...it's so painfully true that it should give pause to those who advocate diplomacy over action -- which is just about every world "leader."
A case can be made that military solutions are more likely to be lasting than negotiated settlements, especially when dealing with those who have no code or constitution that they honour.
That was well-demonstrated in World War II, in which the Free World used their military power to defeat the Axis, and to this day, the resultant peace continues.
And US President Ronald Reagan won the Cold War, not with diplomacy, but by reminding the Soviets that they would simply be destroyed, like that, unless they smartened up... and that America had all it took to wipe the USSR off the face of the earth, just like that. What better way to make a lasting impression? Too bad Russian President Putin seems to have forgotten about that... for he today thinks it's a good idea to rattle his saber at America with new missiles and testing thereof at a rate unseen since the Cold War... not to mention his close friendships with China, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, et al...
The Free World is making a grave error in allowing itself to appear weak militarily... reduced defence spending in the face of skyrocketing spending by the new Axis Powers like China... we look weak and unprepared, stupidly appearing to prefer to talk nice rather than be poised to strike at a moment's notice should anyone make a stupid move...
And the same applied to Israel... until now. Now Israel is demonstrating that which saved itself from annihilation when she was attacked by the Islamic World in 1967... and it is that which really smarts for the Islamists... that they lost... and they want to go back to the conflict... oh, wait... that has already happened... and it's only begun.
Israeli President Olmert advised US Secretary of State Rice recently that it'd take about 10-14 weeks to achieve the aim of crushing Hezbollah. But I predict it cannot end with that... for the rest of the Islamic world has promised international jihad, only starting with Israel... and I've blogged about this for months now.
The last thing the Free World can afford to do is to appear weak by asking to... talk. After all, Chamberlain talked with Hitler... and then Hitler attacked Britain. Therefore, talk is cheap, whereas force is what guarantees the survival of the Free World and all the gifts it affords its residents... which were paid for in the lives of many... using force to preserve them for us, against the attempts of the evildoers of the world to bring them to an end, for they hate our way of life, quite simply.
Israel has been talking to the Islamic world for a long time. Hell, Israel made the perfect offer to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, an offer he couldn't refuse, as it was everything he asked for (except the annihilation of Israel, of course!), yet he did refuse... and proceeded to start the "Intifada". Yep; talk works. Suuuure!
All the diplomacy in the world isn't going to accomplish even a ceasefire this time, for this time it's for real: it's real war, and this is just the beginning. Forget about going back to the days of brief conflict, followed by ceasefires, followed by kids blowing themselves up at a market in Tel Aviv and so on... this time the Islamic World is using traditional bombs in the form of missiles... and the bastards drew first blood in this conflict, proving that Israel is acting only in self-defence.
As indicated by Mr. Spock, diplomacy prolongs, but force makes the conflict end faster. Isn't this what we want? A quick end to the conflict? Surely only a fool wants to drag it out forever!
Sorry, folks, but this is war. Only once the enemy is crushed may there again be... talk.
