Why isn't this making the news? I just found it on the Debka File, and the invasion-occupation of parts of Lebanon by Syria began over two days ago.
Two Syrian commando battalions accompanied by reconnaissance and engineering corps units have crossed into Lebanon in the last 48 hours and taken up positions in seven villages, most of them Allawite Muslim, outside Tripoli, DEBKAfile’s military sources reported Saturday, Sept. 13. They are the vanguard of a large armored force poised on the border.
Damascus has signaled to Washington and Paris: Don’t interfere.
It is the largest Syrian force to invade Lebanon since Damascus was forced to end its occupation of the country in May 2005, three months after former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri was assassinated.

Seen from Israel, once Assad’s army completes its advance on Tripoli, he will control the full length of the military supply route for Hizballah from the Syrian ports of Latakia and Tartus. The Russian presence will add a new and troubling dimension to this development.
Well, now I'll be processing this information... but here's my preliminary, seat-of-my-pants analysis:
The Axis of Evil is on its imperialist march again. Russia, Syria, Iran, KGB, Islamofascist imperialists, terrorism, etc... cue the violins, please... we've seen this crap happening ever since Israel, the only non-Islamic nation in the Middle East, was founded, and the Islamic world proved to be murderously xenophobic and Russia/USSR/KGB moved masterfully to exploit the Islamic world for the Evil Empire's imperialist agenda... and it's continuing to this day.
The more things change, the more they stay the same, as the saying goes...
Meanwhile...
Can there be any mistake as to what's going on here, what direction they're taking, the nature of the threat the Axis of Evil is posing and increasing to the Free World?Friday, Sept. 12, Moscow announced renovation had begun on the Syrian port of Tartus to provide Russia with its first long-term naval presence on the Mediterranean.
As the two naval chiefs talked in Moscow, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov met Iranian foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki in the Russian capital for talks on the completion of the Bushehr nuclear power plant by the end of the year.
Russia. Syria. Iran. Taking up strategic positions. Plus... Nuclear weapons.
Not good; not good at all. And this time, unlike World War Two, the Axis have nuclear weapons and are sharing them with one another.
We in the Free World must now move to meet this growing threat in a way in which we'll be sure to not possibly lose. We must ensure that the Axis of Evil understands that the doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction is still in force and that we haven't lost our resolve to fight for our freedom, democracy and rule of law. The enemy must not be permitted to take it all away from us and shall have it made perfectly clear that if they try to, then they will be destroyed for sure!
Thank God for Sarah Palin, who has declared that she's not afraid of Russia and will go to war against that rogue nation if necessary. It appears that Churchill is back, and he's an American woman now...
