OTTAWA - The Conservatives said Sunday they are refocusing their primary aim on the NDP and the Green Party, citing them as a bigger threat to their reelection than the Liberals.
The Tories explained their dramatic shift in strategy, coming as the second week of the federal election begins, as being due to NDP Leader Jack Layton's rising popularity over that of Liberal Leader Stephane Dion - Prime Minister Stephen Harper's main target last week.
You know that when the NDP, of all parties, is becoming popular that the Liberals are really, really, really screwed, like they were under the hapless, serial bum-patter John Turner in the Eighties.
"They're beginning to challenge the Liberals as our primary opponent in a number of key areas," a senior Conservative campaign source said Sunday. "Not just during the campaign but in the lead-up to the campaign, the NDP has played the role of the principal opposition to the government while the Liberals were abstaining from votes and retreated in a number of issues, the NDP were standing firm and opposing the government vigorously."
Apparently the People noticed and are remembering that the Liberals didn't do their job at all during the last Parliament, and had literally refused to stand up for their claimed principles and values (if they have any principles and values, which is highly doubtful!). When you don't do your job as Opposition because you're more concerned about saving your sorry ass from extinction in an election which you can't fight anymore, well, you're damned if you do; damned if you don't. But then again, the Liberals brought this upon themselves by being such a terrible government for thirteen long, hard, barely bearable years! And they apparently haven't changed one bit, haven't accepted that they totally suck butt wind, and appear to be even worse than ever!
Look, if the Liberals can't do their job as Opposition and can't run an election campaign any better than a cat can get an empty can off of his own head, and have to resort to pathetic smears like accusing their opponents of having a "hidden agenda" without offering any evidence whatsoever... then they can't run a government, much less an entire, complicated federation like Canada!
Only a fool would vote for the Liberal Party of Canada. Liberals can't be trusted with power. Or with our money. Or even with our very lives!
