Harper Rejects Martin's Criticism on Afghanistan Mission

Story here. h/t: Bourque

"When you make those kinds of decisions as a prime minister, you have to be able to take responsibility for them and stick with them," Harper said in Bucharest.

"The fact that Mr. Martin is unable to do that, in this and so many other cases, illustrates why he is no longer prime minister of our country."

In an interview with the Toronto Star, Martin said he doesn't back away "one iota" from his decision to send soldiers to Kandahar. But Martin said there should be more focus on reconstruction efforts.

"You can't win the military war if you can't win the hearts and minds of the people," Martin said.

Doesn't Paul Martin sound just like John Kerry? Another leftist politician who once supported a mission and then crapped all over it out of sheer stupidity and caving in to pressure from the left.

It's impossible to "reconstruct" when you have the Taliban destroying everything you reconstruct all the time. Therefore you need the military focus to first eliminate the Taliban. Forget about "sitting at a table" with the Taliban. These people aren't even people; they're bloodthirsty monsters with no regard for human life whatsoever. Nevertheless, leftists want to delusionally tell themselves that these "people", the Taliban, can be reasoned with.

Leftists... so incredibly stupid and delusional. Stupid, delusional people shouldn't be elected to positions of power in the first place, like Paul Martin was.

Thank goodness that poophead isn't prime minister anymore. If he was, two provinces would probably be in the process of separating, unable to tolerate a Liberal-controlled federation any longer. And Canada would've abandoned Afghanistan, enabling the Taliban to retake the country and allow Osama bin Laden to return and continue training more Al Qaeda homicide pilots and shoe bombers. And that'd all be bad, bad, bad! But does Paul Martin understand this? Hell, no!

Paul Martin should go back into his hole in the ground and stay there.
