Liberal Infighting Continues Unabated

It appears that the infighting in the Liberal Party of Canada is continuing to occur as much as ever, according to this report.
Dion’s leadership, or lack thereof, is the worst seen since the days of John Turner. Quite frankly, it’s no little wonder the knives are out within their own ranks to end the charade of this so-called “leadership”.

Of course, the post is titled “Smiling Bastard”, which is pathetic at best. This strategy of namecalling, of course, is what Liberals resort to when their party is a pathetic shadow of its former self led by a dud of a leader (come on down 1984-1993).
Well, they also profusely use namecalling and outright slanders even at the zenith of their power, I've noticed.
The funniest part of it all, of course (other than the rhetoric and slander posted on the Liberal website) is the fact that the infighting proves to Canadians exactly how indecisive and pathetic their leadership and party has become.

The author of that post rationalizes at the end by stating “other than that, the Liberal performance hasn’t been bad” but that’s just broken glass Liberal voters at their best. Despite this individuals complaints of abstention and non-action within the Liberal party, he’ll hold his nose and vote Liberal just because. Tsk. Tsk.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
And the fact that anyone would still vote Liberal after everything, all the criminality, all the intolerance and extremism within the Liberal Party, which continues to this day as much as ever, is proof positive that Liberalism is either a mental disorder or a fetish for power and making easy money without doing more than, say, passing an envelope.
Very astute analysis of the Liberals by The Trusty Tory. I predict that that blog will become one of the must-reads for those who can't stand those crooked Librano SOBs.

CBC Bigwigs Stiffed Taxpayers With Fat-Cat Expenses

Photo: Former President & CEO of CBC, Robert Rabinovitch, enjoyed himself so much on our dime that he actually fell off of his chair

Not only have we been paying for crap to be broadcast over our airwaves, we're paying for the CBC crap producers to sloth away in the lap of luxury. Emphasis mine.

Documents obtained through Access to Information show former president and CEO of the taxpayer-funded CBC, Robert Rabinovitch, enjoyed a five-day stay at the posh Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel in Turkey.

The stay in September 2006 cost $4,377 to enjoy the hospitality of one of the world's most luxurious resort accommodations.

(...)

He called it "a very wise expenditure of our funds" because it provided a unique opportunity to discuss future co-productions from around the world.

Oh, puh-leeeze! What, they didn't have a Holiday Inn Express or something much more reasonable?

Who the hell gave permission to stay someplace so ridiculously luxurious? Certainly not the Canadian People to whom the shocking bill was sent!

Plus:

Documents also show that Nancy Lee, former head of CBC Sports, and her deputy David Masse, spent $8,590 over five days staying at the sister hotel to the Ciragan, the Kempinski Hotel Adlon in Berlin.

(...)

Lee also billed the CBC about $200 for something called "Kosmetik" during her stay. Chambers could not explain the expense, but staff at the hotel said it was likely for the purchase of skin lotion or another cosmetic product.

Hey! What the...? Clearly, the Liberals had fostered a culture of entitlement at the CBC as well as elsewhere across the state apparatus.

Chinese Communists Waging "Cultural Genocide": Dalai Lama

Story here. Emphasis mine.

Speaking at the headquarters of the Tibetan government in exile, the Dalai Lama endorsed the right of his people to press grievances peacefully against the Chinese authorities, and said he would not ask Tibetans to surrender to Chinese military police by midnight on Monday, as Beijing has demanded. He said he had no moral authority to do so and that Tibetans had beseeched him not to capitulate to that demand.

"Whether the Chinese government admits it or not, a nation with an ancient cultural heritage is actually facing serious dangers," the Dalai Lama told reporters during an emotionally charged news conference here. "Whether intentionally or unintentionally, some kind of cultural genocide is taking place."

(...)

Some Tibetans hope to press for outright independence from China. They argue that they have an unprecedented political opportunity to push for change as China prepares to be the host country for the Olympic Games in August and faces intense scrutiny of its human rights record.

Talk about being "under the microscope"! The Communists wanted the Olympics, but it doesn't seem they're willing to do what it takes to earn them, despite being wrongly granted the right to host them by a corrupt, greedy, self-perpetuating International Olympic Committee.

Though the impact of the Dalai Lama's words was difficult to gauge, they were almost certain to further enrage Beijing. Even as he spoke, there were unconfirmed reports that demonstrations by ethnic Tibetans had spread to the nearby Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai.

I believe that may be an indicator of far more to come. Again, we must ask: Will the Communists take actions which will unavoidably shock and horrify the international community into realizing just what a horrendous regime currently tyrannizes China and the territories it illegally occupies/aims to illegally occupy?

Depending on the CCP's behavior in the near future, they will either slow or accelerate the death knell of the Communist Party.

"They have no experience how to deal with problems through talk, only suppress," he said.

The world continues to watch intently. The Communists cannot any longer count on people giving them the benefit of the doubt and must earn what they desire... or they'll again shoot themselves yet again in the foot.

Whatever happens, the rule of the Communists will soon, and must necessarily, come to an end.

Dalai Lama: No Surrender To Communists

Tibetan Resistance Against Communists Continues

Cross-posted at Reuters

The Dalai Lama will not submit to the Chinese Communist Party.

MCLEODGANJ, India — The Dalai Lama said Sunday that he would not instruct his followers inside Tibet to surrender before Chinese authorities, and he described feeling “helpless” in preventing what he feared could be an imminent blood bath.

“I do feel helpless,” he said in response to a question at a wide-ranging, emotionally charged news conference here in what has served as the headquarters of the Tibetan government in exile for nearly 40 years. “I feel very sad, very serious, very anxious. Cannot do anything,”

His aides said they had received reports from Tibet of 80 killings on Thursday and Friday alone, in and around the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, including 26 slain just outside a prison called Drapchi. Chinese state media has reported 10 deaths and characterized most of them as shopkeepers ”burned to death” during protests.

(...)

For the second straight day on Sunday, protests spread into different Tibetan regions of China. Buddhist monks and police reportedly clashed in a Tibetan region of Sichuan Province. A crowd of 200 Tibetan protesters burned down a local police station, news agencies reported.

The world watches history happen right before its eyes.

The Big Question:

Will the Communists conduct another massacre?

I'd strongly advise against such a course of action, for the consequences for the Chinese Communist Party would mean the acceleration of its inevitable, imminent downfall. Another massacre, particularly as the world watches, would sound the death knell of Communism in China.

The Chinese Communist Party must leave Tibet, period. End the illegal occupation!

Taliban Torch Brand New School

While the "progressives" demand that we leave the poor, helpless Afghan People to fend for themselves against the hateful, mercilessly bloodthirsty Taliban beasts, the Taliban itself goes and demonstrates yet another example of what the Afghans will get more of if we stop protecting them with combat action by altruistic soldiers who will give their lives if necessary so that the innocent can be free.

If we leave Afghanistan, stop providing armed opposition to the Taliban, stop getting rid of those hatefully dangerous butchers, then Afghans can expect to lose all the new schools, hospitals, other social services we've provided to them, plus their human rights.

Women will once again be non-persons, forced to drape themeslves against their will in unattractive sacks. They will be accused again of wrongdoing and summarily executed in soccer fields all over again.

And we can expect the Taliban to welcome back Osama bin Laden so that he can more comfortably plot and plan his hateful, murderous operations once again without having to be constantly on the run like a filthy old mountain goat.

Really. Only the stupid and ignorant, the selfish and greedy, the hateful and mean-spirited truly believe that we should be leaving the Afghan people to fend for themselves, something they cannot do yet.

We must stay and finish the job, ensure that the Afghan government is fully prepared to deal with the Taliban menace on its own.

Therefore, we're staying.

UPDATE: In fact, NATO, according to this report, is expected by Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay to pledge an additional 1,000 forces to the mission.

Open March 25th Cross-Examination of "HR" Inquisitors to Public: Keith Martin

Story here. Read it all. It's extremely important, no matter what your political ideology may be.

h/t: smalldeadanimals.com

Dr. Keith Martin, a maverick Liberal MP (for now... wink, wink) who brought forth a Private Member's Bill to abolish the unconstitutional Section 13(1) of the so-called "Canadian Human Rights Act", a move widely supported by folks across the political-ideological spectrum but not by the "progressive" political parties, is demanding that the upcoming March 25th cross-examination of "Human Rights" Commission inquisitors be opened to the public. Doing so is the right thing to do in an open, free and democratic society, plus the inquisitors wouldn't be able to weasel out of tough questions about their behavior and agenda if they know the People are watching very closely, listening to every word, every nuance...

Dr. Martin reminds us that it's about protecting everyone's right to due process and to be guarateed the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty. Currently the CHRC takes these rights away, with the result that each and every single accusee is found guilty, with not a single aquittal, ever.

I agree that the cross-examination must be public, and I'd demand the media be allowed to cover it... live. And that the media actually do so, rather than being too timid to stand up for Canadians' rights.

Oh, and with respect to what the "progressive" Opposition parties in Parliament think is important, it appears to me that they would rather keep repeating the same questions about the Cadman controversy despite the government's being perfectly clear that nothing wrong was done. The Liberals in particular want to transform Parliamentary Committees into kangaroo courts to serve their witch-hunting obsession against the Conservatives, trying to throw something, anything at all they can find and grab, and have it stick. They could care less about the fact that our rights are at stake on March 25, which explains why they could care less whether the cross-examination is open to the public, to the media, to scrutiny. Why scrutinize hearsay allegations (which have been trumped by Chuck Cadman's own declarations on camera) rather than the fascists of the so-called "Human Rights" Commission? I guess we know where the "progressive" Opposition's priorities lie: In their electoral calculations, and not with our interests as Canadians who want to be guaranteed our Charter rights and not have them quietly taken away by protected, entitlist elitists.

Oh, and I'd also like to officially declare that I, The Canadian Sentinel, believe that Dr. Keith Martin is a true human rights champion and that Richard Warman and Warren Kinsella are not.

IOC Nervous Over Growing Boycott-Beijing-O Movement

"Penalizing innocent athletes" h/t: Bourque.org

Cross-posted at Reuters

Well, the IOC's appeasing posture towards the Communist barbarians is penalizing far more than just "innocent athletes". I suggest that the athletes be sent home, disappointed, but alive, and with their human rights intact (if they have any, where they're from, that is).

The IOC is just acting in its own interests. To boycott an entire Olympics could actually begin a death knell for the corrupt, irrelevant (like the "United Nations") old organization.

You know, with all those Communist soldiers in the streets with guns in Tibet, I'm reminded of those infamous Liberal propaganda ads from the last Canadian election that wrongfully accused Prime Minister Stephen Harper of planning to do the very same, which he certainly did NOT do.

Today, in fact, the Liberals are proving that they could care less about there being people with guns in the streets shooting people. They don't really appear too concerned about Tibet. They prefer instead to hijack Parliamentary Committees for their aggressive, overzealous partisan witch-hunting. Not that they were doing any real work before that, anyway, what with refusing to stand up and be counted to put their money where their big mouths are after condemning the government's agenda, thus giving it de-facto endorsement rather than take their "opposition" thereto to the voters and make their case against the govenrnment... and provide an alternative with credibility and worth considering.

Don't get me wrong; I'd love to see the Conservative government in Canada get far, far tougher with Communist China, including issuing firm demands for Beijing to pull out of Tibet and to not invade/occupy Taiwan, ever, to respect the independence and sovereignty of these territories, just like Beijing hypocritically demands Israel pull out of lands legally belonging to her, as they were won fair and square in a self-defensive action against those lands' former owners, Syria, Egypt and Jordan. The Communists just invaded and occupied... offensively, without provocation, and only for imperialist reasons, yet the "international community" doesn't care, preferring instead to believe the Big Lie about the mythical "Palestine" and the Big Lies hurled against Israel.

As for what the "progressive" movement and the media are doing about this, not as much as they could. They're more concerned with this, this, and this. Whining about police arresting drunks and such (Yes, maybe some cops are being a bit too nasty, but what about Tibet and the Falun Gong and all other tyrannized people in China??? What about them???), whining about the seal hunt and whining about fighting the Taliban to protect the Afghan People from tyranny, torture and termination, plus the free world from terrorism. Anyone got links to marches and protests happening against China's occupation of Tibet? How about against China's persecution of and holocaust against the Falun Gong, China's organ-harvesting profiteering on live human victims, etc.? Who's in control of what "progressive" pawns and zobmies from amongst the public will protest and march against? Who directs the "progressive" movement, and who's in charge in the mainstream media, which covers only the protests and demonstrations it wants to cover and ignores those it doesn't? All questions that need to be addressed.

The world's priorities are wrong. People in the free world are so cavalierly comfortable as to only care to worry about themselves and their own selfishness and relatively petty problems (whilst sweeping bigger, politically-explosive domestic probems under the rug, like the problem of armed criminals). I just don't see that they really care as much as some would like to suggest they do. I don't see the same passionate intensity evident in the free world when it comes to the Communists, not even in the supposedly-caring-about-the-vulnerable-and-being-opposed-to-bullies "progressive" movement.

Let's get tough, stop playing nice with, the Communists and other evil regimes. After all, as freedom is taken from people elsewhere, those who took it away will eventually come to try to take it away from us, too. Don't we realize this? Don't we care?

And appeasement, "diplomacy", "dialogue" and all that... well, Chamberlain tried it with Hitler. It seemed to have worked. But it didn't, as evildoers lie and then turn on you... that's their nature... like the crocodile upon whose back one may hitch a ride across the river...

An Anti-Liberal Returns to Blogging

Let's all go visit and welcome The Trusty Tory.

Not sure who it is, but I have a feeling that Trusty Tory is someone who has what it takes to really contribute to the fight against those nasty, crooked, unethical, immoral Liberals most Canadians love to hate and hate to love and view as "those scumbaggy guys we can't live with and can't get rid of".

So, took a brief hiatus, went on a vacation and lived life a little bit.

But I’m back…and with one hell of a chip on my shoulder.

Against who, you ask? You guessed it..the usual suspects: the Liberal Party of Canada.

Day after day I watch those bozos in the House of Commons during Question Period, trying to focus on non-scandals and ridiculous accusations…making the rat-pack of the 1980’s look like a Church Choir.

Welcome back, Trusty Tory, and welcome back to the battle for Canada!

One day soon I'll really have to take a good look at my personal blogroll and update it appropriately. There's some folks' blogs who belong on it who'll have to get thereon. Might as well de-list any now-long-defunct urls as well.

Tibetan Crackdown Reminiscent of Tiananmen Massacre

US Embassy Reports Gunfire Heard

(Note: Also published on Reuters and The Chicago Sun-Times )

Story here. Emphasis mine.

It appears that the Communists may have already started a crackdown on Tibetan protestors against Beijing's evil empire and its illegal occupation of Tibet.

The protests, in their fifth day and led by monks supporting the area's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, threaten to cast a pall over the Chinese regime's image of a unified nation ahead of the 2008 Olympics.

The U.S. Embassy in Beijing said that it had "received firsthand reports from American citizens in the city who report gunfire and other indications of violence".

(...)

Tibetans are hoping to use the Olympics to draw attention to their plight. The region has been under occupation for 50 years and thousands of monks and nuns have been tortured to death in labour camps.

In recent years, Beijing has used more soft power in the form of investing in the region, vilifying the Dalai Lama, and infiltrating the clergy with Communist Party supporters.

The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet's Buddhists, urged the regime not to use violence to quell the protests, which he called "a manifestation of the deep-rooted resentment of the Tibetan people under the present governance".

He said in a statement: "I therefore appeal to the Chinese leadership to stop using force and address the long-simmering resentment of the Tibetan people through dialogue with the Tibetan people".

Guess the "progressives", the "international community", the "United Nations" and the MSM will prefer to listen to the likes of Abu Mazen ("Mahmoud Abbas") of the mythical "Palestine" when he deceptively calls for "peace talks".

I believe we can trust the Dalai Lama when he says he wants a peaceful resolution to Beijing's illegal occupation of Tibet.

UPDATE: CCP claims Tibetan capital "secure"

Conflicting reports emerged about the violence in Lhasa on Friday. The Chinese authorities denied that they had fired on protesters there, but Tibetan leaders in India told news agencies on Saturday that they had confirmed that 30 Tibetans had died and that they had unconfirmed reports that put the number at more than 100.

Massacre by Communists?

Residents in Xiahe, reached by telephone, heard loud noises similar to gunshots or explosions. A waitress described the scene as “chaos” and said many injured people had been sent to a local hospital. Large numbers of military police and security officers fired tear gas while Tibetans hurled rocks, according to the Tibetans in India.

“Their slogans were, ‘The Dalai Lama must return to Tibet’ and ‘Tibetans need to have human rights in Tibet,’ ” said Jamyang, a Tibetan in Dharamsala, India, the seat of the Tibetan government in exile, who spoke to protesters.

China’s response to this week’s demonstrations is being watched carefully by the outside world. The European Union and the United States have both called on China to act with restraint. The White House called on China to “respect Tibetan culture” and issued a renewed call for dialogue between Beijing and the Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism.

Bob Rae's Campaign Staff Linked To ADSCAM: Taylor

Liberal by-election candidate Bob Rae, in old photo, has been indirectly linked to ADSCAM

Stephen Taylor reports. h/t: Bourque.org
The Liberal scandals will not go away. Perhaps the Liberals are trying to milk the dry cow of the Cadman controversy to distract from their own scandals. Emphasis mine.
Former and likely future Liberal leadership candidate Bob Rae is working this weekend to get himself elected to the House of Commons in the riding of Toronto Centre. Rae is putting himself up as a fresh new ethical face for the Liberal Party, but this will ring hollow with voters Monday as he hired two campaign workers during his failed leadership bid that previously received Adscam money. Gomery described the sponsorship Scandal as "elaborate kickback scheme" conducted by members of the Liberal party and their associates in Quebec.
When Rae was running to replace Bill Graham/Paul Martin as the new leader of the Liberal Party, he hired two staffers Franco Iacono and Gaetano Manganiello, two former employees of the Liberal Party of Canada
(documentation provided)
Rae declared that $14,750 was paid to Iacono for "Salaries and Wages" while $3,000 was claimed for Manganiello in "Salaries and Wages" while $1766.26 was paid for "Miscellaneous expenses".
(...)
Why did he think to hire these Liberal party operatives? Did he know that these men gave testimony before the Gomery inquiry? Iacono and Manganiello went on to work for Bob Rae's leadership campaign.
After going through the drama of the Sponsorship Scandal and having an electorate focused upon ethics, why would Rae's campaign involve these two in his leadership bid?
Good work, Stephen! Please keep it up!
Now is the time to start asking questions of Mr. Rae as well as pretty much the entire Liberal Party for being comfortable with the Party's continuing history of rampant, unethical greediness and criminality.
