The truth is that the Leftist Opposition, which he himself now leads (without the legitimacy of election as head of the Liberal Party, which leads the Opposition), is at fault.
How's that? They threatened to overthrow the Conservative government if they refused to do what the "Coalition" wanted, which was to go deeply into the red to "stimulate" the economy which has fallen into recession, as has the whole world. Harper never, never wanted to do what he's been forced to do by them.
After all, not going ahead with a deficit-financed stimulus package would probably lead to the Leftists taking over executive power (against the wishes of Canadians, who would rather have an election than have those assholes just take over and do watever they wanted, without any mandate whatsoever!). Mr. Harper knows that to allow the Leftists to take over like that would be far, far worse than going into deficit under him (he can do it right, though he'd prefer not to have to do it at all, and would obviously prefer to carefully ride out the recession properly without shooting the country in the foot for the longer run).
Iggy's already showing that he'd thrown his intelligence into the toilet and flushed twice, in favor of being an ultra-partisan, Hard-Left asshole like Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe.
Notwithstanding that, the Leftist Opposition may still try to overthrow the government, even though it's done what they demanded it do! Clearly, the Leftists are more interested in taking power as quickly as possible to do whatever they've got planned, without an election, which they know they can't win, for a long time, at least. They're that impatient to impose their revolutionary, Hard-Left social-reengineering agenda onto Canada, wanting to do it simultaneously with B. Hussein Obama, who'll be sworn in as the Supreme Overlord of an unfortunate United States in a couple of days, and is clearly about to aggressively impose all sorts of radically extreme crap as quickly as possible, along with the Democrat-controlled Congress and Senate. Sheesh... look at the Canadian Left, so desperate to be all me-too for Obama, they'll do anything, even against the democratic rights and wishes of the vast majority of Canadians!
