Many have postulated in vain as to why such an energizing presence in the party has been soundly rejected by its “inner circle.” Yet despite phony attempts at eloquence and deep analysis, it is clear that somehow, the basic integrity and common sense that Palin exudes are themselves the offending factors. All of that “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” rhetoric may look good engraved on the monuments and surely sounds good in campaign ads, but this is just not how things are done in Washington anymore.
When measured against the current “ruling class,” Palin's faults, or more precisely, those qualities about her which critics attempt to manufacture into faults, are trivial at worst. More pertinently, the derisive commentary is far more reflective of truly serious character defects on their own part. Sadly, many of them claim to lean to the political right.

Over time, a disturbing pattern of arrogance and elitism has revealed the mindset of the average Beltway insider, regardless of political affiliation, to be self-absorbed and disdainful of the hopes, dreams, and concerns of real America. As a result, on one issue after another, although the people of the heartland are steadfastly committed to their heritage and their roots, elected officials obsessively seek to move the country away from such things. Those entrusted to protect the rights, liberties, and property of the common man are instead fixated on vast increases in the concentration of power and wealth at the federal level, with the average citizen required to pay the bill.
Throughout her public life, Sarah Palin has steadfastly opposed such entities, and in stark contrast to the mutual “back-scratching” corruption that permeates Washington, has dealt severely with any breaches of ethics on both sides of the political aisle. Rather than being “of the Ivy league” and for her own ambitions, she has made the difficult decisions needed to eradicate the facades and restore public confidence in the workings of government in her state. And it is clearly this personality trait, and the resolve to act on it, that makes her a hero to the citizenry, and a mortal threat to the “establishment” regardless of party affiliation.
The Liberal leader is pushing the minority Harper government to adopt a single national standard of 360 hours - or nine weeks - of work to qualify for jobless benefits.
That's very close to the eight-week eligibility rule introduced by Pierre Trudeau's Liberals in 1971, sparking a spike in seasonal unemployment and an electoral backlash that helped cost Trudeau his majority in the 1972 election.
"What happened in '71 to my mind was a policy catastrophe," says University of Ottawa economist David Gray.
To repeat it today "would just be catastrophic for the Canadian economy."
The Liberals also want an election again this year, as the economy, still probably vulnerable, begins its recovery. That would cause political instability, hurting the recovery.... and then the Liberals would take away the incentive to work, so people would be working less and less, and those who do work would be paying more and more to support those lazy bums... again! It'd be Soviet Trudeaustan all over again!
See? Not only do Ignatieff, the Liberals and the other socialist parties want to copy Obama's hardcore communist project, but they want to go back to the communist regime imposed by Pierre Trudeau's Liberals.

It seems that the summer holidays will offer us no respite from the Liberal Party of Canada's attempts to smear Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party. Still over a month before the resumption of Parliament and already they've kicked into high gear with their most baffling and unprincipled attack yet.You can change some of the frontline guard in the Liberal Party, but it's still the Liberal Party. The Party of ADSCAM (when will they repay the taxpayers the $40 million they owe them, with interest?). And the old guard, ie. Chretien, Martin et al., is still there, behind the curtain, working the controls and yanking the strings, so, really, the more things in the Liberal Party "change", the more it stays the same. Dirty rotten scoundrels' club.
As you know, Liberals vigorously attacked the Prime Minister after a New Brunswick newspaper accused Stephen Harper of pocketing a communion wafer at a Roman Catholic Church at a recent state funeral - creating a divisive religious controversy and pitting one group of Canadians against another.
The story, of course, was proven to be manufactured: the newspaper issued a stunning front-page apology to the Prime Minister, while firing its editor and suspending its publisher.

What's worse, the Liberals have refused to deny that they were behind the manufactured story. Michael Ignatieff simply won't take responsibility for the actions of his office or his party.
It shows how insincere the chief fundraiser for the Liberal Party of Canada was when he wrote to party supporters in May, stating, "Canada deserves a government dedicated to solving problems, not partisan attacks."

Pickens was on the Hill to address the Senate Democratic Policy Committee lunch about his plans to use wind energy to lower the nation’s dependence on oil and gas. But the thought of Pickens being invited to a Democratic event angered some on the Hill and in the liberal blogs.
Pickens’ camp appears unmoved by the drama. “If they have a problem, that’s their problem,” said Pickens spokesman Jay Rosser.
