I hope that construction goes ahead if no other reason than to demonstrate to the jihadists and the delusional that their acts of violence and wankery will not derail our traditions of moderation and tolerance. Unfortunately, it is the loudest and crudest who seem to attract the spotlight these days.
Really slickly clever communication ya got there, eh, Michael? ;)
I'd say that killing people is far worse than opposing a victory monument to the slaughter of thousands of innocents.
It's NOT a matter of "freedom", nor of "rights".
Try telling the victims that that's all it's about. I'd like to see the Hate House proponents tell 'em to their faces and see whether they'll get any submission then.
If people want to talk about freedom and rights, then how about the freedom to refuse to answer census questions? How about the freedom to use incandescents and not CFLs? How about the freedom to spew all the CO2 we want without being taxed for it? How about the freedom to publish Mohammed cartoons and not get jackbooted by assholes like Soharwardy and the CHRC? How about the freedom to refuse to publish propaganda leaflets for ideological extremists like gays? How about the freedom to protest against abortion right in front of an abortion clinic? How about the freedom to refuse to perform SSM ceremonies and never get punished for it? How about the freedom to refuse to perform abortions and never get punished for it?
Gimme a fecking break. The people talking about "rights" and "freedoms" do NOT mean it... it's all cynical propaganda BS. They'll quickly turn around and trample peoples' liberties "in service of the greater good", "in the name of tolerance", "in the name of equality", etc., etc....
Of course killing people is worse but I don't subscribe to the "tar them all with the same brush" philosophy like some folks do. I'd understand the protest if Al Qaeda was setting up a New York office but this episode is simply more "they're all out to get us and anyone who doesn't see that is blind and/or stupid" blather.
Give 'em too much, there could be another Holocaust... And don't forget that a Muslim, Haj Amin al-Husseini, Yasser Arafat's uncle, in fact, was even more culpable for the Holocaust than his comrade Hitler...
So there's historical precedent wrt Muslims and genocide. Those who know the facts know better than to give an inch to apparent Islamic supremacists, whose agenda is hardly hidden at all, except in the Dhimmi-Media Complex.
Naked Mimosa refuses to seek perspective outside his own poorly constructed paradigms. Islame requires theocracy. Freedom of religion cannot be evoked in favor of a theocratic requirement. This is a quintessential oxymoron.

It's a war of civilizations.
It's Islam versus non-Islam.
We didn't start it and don't want it.
But like it or not, THEY are imposing it on us.
And the worst thing to do is let them.
