WASHINGTON (AP) - Investigative officials say the Army psychiatrist accused of the Fort Hood massacre will be charged by the U.S. military rather than in a civilian court.

The officials also say Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan communicated 10 to 20 times with a radical imam overseas who in the past came under scrutiny for possible links to terror groups. They say the communications began last year and continued into this year between Hasan and the imam, Anwar al-Awlaki, and that U.S. officials had been aware of them since last year.

The officials spoke Monday evening on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation. Awlaki writes a blog that denounces U.S. policies as anti-Muslim.

Isn't it bizarre that an obviously quite psychiatrically-disturbed individual like this could have actually been a practicing psychiatrist? Bear in mind that he also served as shrink/advisor to other Muslim service personnel, no doubt filling their heads with some of his hateful, gobbleddygook poison, possibly radicalizing some of them.

How are these things allowed to happen, particularly when authorities are aware of the individual obviously at risk to commit such evil?

I mean, since they did nothing, people died! They're responsible for not doing something to prevent the terrorrist attack! Someone needs to tell Obama, not that he'd care, I don't think, for I suspect he's a sympathizer, at least, of Islamic supremacists, judging from his behavior in office so far.
