More Liberal Infighting Over Bad Dion Move

Liberal "leader" Stephane Dion prepares to sneeze, apparently allergic to the concepts of good leadership and smart moves

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion's decision to appoint NDP MLA Joan Beatty as the candidate in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River is threatening to cause rifts among party supporters in the huge northern constituency ahead of the March 17 byelection.

David Orchard, who had been campaigning for the nomination in the huge northern riding, still wasn't talking to the media Monday after being sideswiped by last Thursday's announcement.

Licking his wounds, preparing his revenge, perhaps?

But the campaign manager for the one-time anti-free trade activist and prominent Saskatchewan supporter of Dion during the 2006 leadership race said Monday that Orchard is not on-side with Beatty's appointment.

Oooh... the Orch isn't pleased!

There's also the unpleasant optics of what appears to be token appointments of women/Aboriginals as opposed to demonstrating confidence in womens' and Aboriginals' ability to contest and win nomination and election campaigns. So much for the Liberals' claims to believe in equality and so on!
