Once again we learn of problems with respect to a Liberal-instigated program, this time with Industry Canada's $2.9 billion Technology Partnerships Canada fund. Of this $2.9 billion, currently half a billion has been paid out to 52 companies.

"Recently disclosed documents show Industry Canada has already spent at least $755,000 probing 52 companies to determine whether they inappropriately paid middlemen to secure cash ..." (Emphasis mine)
"...the investigation so far has been unable to come up with answers in about 30 per cent of the cases studied, so Industry Canada has begun a fresh round of audits to dig deeper into the firms' books. "
"In June, Industry Minister David Emerson confirmed that a 2004 audit of five companies receiving money from the technology fund identified $3.7 million in improper payments to intermediaries."

Where's Sheila Fraser? Why down at the front ofice collecting another department bonus, of course.
It took roughly 12 years to discover problems in Guite's office after Allan Coulter blew the whistle there about false contracts.
Adscam was oozing out all over, forcing Sheila to discover and apply spin.

Hmm. But 12 yrs. How long has Fraser been there? I recall a Dennis Desautels...
I would find it hard to believe Fraser could be bought... will watch for myself. Haven't yet reason to suspect her, as I was impressed at the way she ripped into the Libranos about Adscam...
Still, wouldn't be surprised to learn stuff here on the blognet before Fraser gets to it. Not everyone is terrified of the long arm of the PMO, after all... Not the Sentinel, for sure.
