Greece Now Protecting PEDOPHILES By Law

Pedobear ought to be Greece's national animal now.

The Ultra-Far Left-Wing continues to screw up the Free World with advancing immorality and with bizarre laws protecting such immorality.

Plus, to add insult to injury, perverts like that will receive socialism payments higher than those received by folks with REAL disabilities!

I've been warning of this.

Slippery slope.

Plus... apparently the folks in charge of running Greece have decided to run her into the ground by giving scarce money to pedophiles just for being pedophiles.

At the same time, REAL disabled folks have been negatively impacted by "austerity" measures.

Yeah, it's real smart to take money from the deaf and give it to the morally depraved.

Ah, but I'm just being a "hateful, closed-minded, intolerant, neanderthal, knuckle-dragging, un-progressive right-winger" here... right?

I think you've misunderstood the legislation under consideration, which is explained in more detail here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16486416.

Briefly, pedophiles are mentally ill - pedophilia is included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Greece isn't legalizing or "protecting" pedophiles - sex with children remains just as illegal as ever. They're saying that, for example, a pedophile or an arsonist any of the other categories they're recognizing would be entitled to benefits if they sought treatment.

Not quite what you were describing.

Next thing you know, flashers and guys who stare at womens' boobies in public will be getting a disability check...

I'm not sure what exactly you're disagreeing with.

If pedophiles are NOT mentally ill, what are they??

If they ARE mentally ill, recognize, and seek treatment so that they DON'T act on their impulses, why should they not be supported?

(You're not going to believe this, but I swear it's true: the word verification for this response is "mental". I kid you not.)

From what I've read, pedophiles cannot be cured, they are hardwired that way. Maybe the best you can expect that some can, with treatment, actually dig up the moral fortitude to control their impulses but it's an iffy proposition. I certainly don't believe they should get a disability pension like a cancer victim off work.

I think you need to read the actual articles and statements carefully - not the highly politicized misinterpretations of the legislation - to understand what's actually being proposed here.

I also think you're having a hard time distinguishing between pedophilia (the mental illness) and the criminal behaviour it sometimes leads to. Are you suggesting that all pedophiles act on their impulses?

Canadian Sentinel said...

What Greece is doing is just the first step to full equality rights for pedophiles.

Ultimately, "intergenerational sexuality" will be deemed and enforced as a "right". Ultimately they'll push for adult-child marriage, etc... and it'll become a "hate crime" to speak out against pedophilia...

Sound familiar? Similar progression happened with homosexuality. That's how it works. One thing paves the way down the slippery slope to another thing...

And I, of course, do not think pedophiles deserve a government check just because they're attracted to children.

But if Leftists want to start standing up for pedophiles, I know they will. They're already doing it, and we'll see more of it. Why? Because they like to see depravity be advanced.

Which of these sentences do you disagree with, Sentinel?

a) Pedophilia is a mental illness.

b) People with a mental illness should be helped. (I believe that's what you've suggested for homosexuals in the past?)

You're a bit confused about what's being proposed by the Government of Greece. If they were seeking to normalize pedophilia, they would be decriminalizing it, not declaring it a mental illness. I suggest you read the BBC article a bit more carefully.

Balbul asked me:
"Are you suggesting that all pedophiles act on their impulses"

No, certainly not, I was aiming my comments on those who do. Those that have acted on their impulses, those are the ones for whom treatment is generally a waste of time. That's my opinion based on what I have read and heard of.

balbulican said...

Those who DO act on their pedophile impulses are criminals and subject to prosecution. The inclusion of pedophilia in the DSM, or as a mental illness under Greek law, is not a mitigating factor - offenders should be arrested, prosecuted and sentenced according to law.

With respect, I really don't think you guys understand what is being proposed here. They're not talking about "protecting" or legitimizing pedophilia. They're talking about recognizing a category of mental illness, NOT paying benefits.

This may help clarify it for you: http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2012/01/10/Greece-No-benefits-for-voyeurs/UPI-55281326220578/?spt=hs&or=on

"The National Confederation of Disabled People called the action "incomprehensible," and said pedophiles are now awarded a higher government disability pay than some people who have received organ transplants."

Balbul, I was going by the above the statement that was in Sentinel's link which was the AP newsservice so hence I considered it reliable. However your link certainly clarifies the issue. No disability benefits for the perverts.

balbulican said...

No problemo, amigo. The source of the misinformation was AP's reliance on a quote from an advocacy group member, who was clearly concerned about the impact of this decision on his group's access to funding.

Excellent. So the same goes for homosexuals. Or did I just make an assumption of some sort... or... rather has an exception already been made? Hmmmmmmm.

Gotta love Santorum.

Now what possessed me to say that?
